Of course, I’m speaking in broad stereotypes and cultural cliches, which are difficult to apply to any particular pair of real people, but, yes. There’s some reason why so much cultural literature/movies/etc. reflects exactly this type of thing.
Much might also depend on the definition of “hottie.” Many might not be interested in getting paired up with the “popular” set.
“Remaining scholars” – this might just be a matter of differences in usage. But I should think that the jocks wouldn’t be categorized as “scholars” at all.
Maybe there’s hope that this sort of thing is dying out.
Basically he is referring to the classic John Hughes high school movie stereotype where the jocks are the kings of the school, the cheerleaders are the queens and everyone falls neatly into 1 dimensional cliques.
High school is a microcosm of life. You have people who everyone knows have it going on. You have people who don’t fit in and no one likes. Most people fall somewhere in the middle

Tell your son there is a programme on Channel 5 now called “Ghosts On The Underground” about strange goings on in the London Underground system. Might be of interest to him.
Thanks mittu I already taped it for him. As a matter of fact he knew about the strange goings on and was curious to know what the TV programme made of it and if any light could be shed on the mysteries.
