Hilary Duff as Bonnie Parker

I was…surprised to read that Hilary Duff will be playing Bonnie Parker in a new indie version of Bonnie and Clyde.

<< “Couldn’t they have at least cast a real actress?” Dunaway said last week.

Duff retaliated against Dunaway Tuesday. … “I think it was a little unnecessary but I might be mad if I looked like that now too.” >>

Reminds me of this.

Kosse Cafe | Blog has some pictures that make it appear Ms. Duff may not be the spittin’ image of Ms. Parker.

Bonnie looks more like Cloris Leachman to me, but I suppose they want a younger person to play her. Dunaway will be hard to top, but I’d go with Amanda Plummer (from Pulp Fiction) if I had anything to do with the casting.

Considering the fact that she was shot to death at 24, shouldn’t a younger person be playing her?

ETA: Amanda Plummer is 52, old enough to play Bonnie’s mother for cripe’s sakes.

Real actress? Duff has appeared in quite a few movies. What qualifies one a s a real actress?

I guess, and when 'Clyde" is being played by a dude from Air Bud.

I know, he was in Transamerica too.

Plummer is too old to play Parker. You never know, it’s possible that this is a case of inspired acting.

Of course you guys are right about the age factor, and I was mostly thinking about Amanda as she was in Pulp Fiction which is 15 years old and Amanda was already too old then to play Bonnie. I’m just thinking style mostly.

But you have to admit, don’t you, that those pictures of Bonnie aren’t like your 24 year old gals of today. She could be in her 40’s. Rode hard and put up wet.

I think Hilary could do a great job.

Hilary Swank, that is. Duff? Har!

I think she looks pretty young in those pictures. She has an old-lady hairdo and clothes, but that’s because those were young-lady fashions at the time.

My god, until you posted this, I thought the OP WAS talking about Hilary Swank.

They cast Hillary…Duff? Really? Are they going for the Hannah Montana demographic? (yea, I know that’s Miley Cyrus).

Ouch. But too true. Dunaway is a horror show at this point.

I think Parker looks quite young in that photo as well as very attractive. Hardly what I’d call rode hard and put away wet.

Yeah! That’s just an insult to the memory of Bonnie and Clyde!

Yeah, if you can get past the granny-looking hat and dress and the poor quality of those grainy B&W photos she was actually kind of cute.

Talent?

Was Dunaway a “real actress” when they cast her in B&C? She was ~26 at the time, and IMDB lists a measly four credits for her (two were TV episodes) before B&C. I love Faye Dunaway, but it doesn’t look to me like she was a star before she got her shot at Bonnie either.

ETA: I have no opinion on Hilary Duff, as I have never seen her in anything.

As part of my job I look at all sorts of grainy B&W photos taken in the 19th and early 20th centuries. Parker was a babe. No doubt about it.
Odesio

Kevin Zeggers plays Clyde? Hmmm.

And tiny. If we are just going on looks even Duff is way to big to play her.
