Hilary Clinton has recently apologized for making a joke about M. K. Gandhi.
She introduced a quote from him by saying, “He ran a gas station down in St. Louis.” (Cite available on request).
I considered putting this in GQ, but anything with Hilary in it is Pit-destined, I suppose, so my question is this.
How is this funny? Not because it is stereotypical, but I don’t get the humorous reference. Is there a well-known Indian gas station owner that I never heard of?
I am not Indian, and I am not even particularly offended, but I don’t see how this going to raise a chuckle. Is it really that lame, or am I not getting it because I don’t know any Indian gas-station owners?
Could someone explain it to me?

Shodan
