So, if Hillary should divorce Bill, will that help her with her NY Senate race, if she really is running?
She really is running. She’s going to have to stick it out and stay with Bill. Her Senate salary won’t come close to paying that mortgage and she’ll need Bill to go on the speech circuit, although I bet a divorce would probably win her a few votes.
She won’t divorce Bubba.
They’ll lead separate lives, though.
Heck, they’re doing that now.

Bill & Hillary Clinton are business partners. Period!

Hey, newsflash!
The Drudge Report reports that one of the tabloids says Bill & Hillary are divorcing.
Apparently, Bill said he wouldn’t be Hillary’s first lady! Hillary’s friends are thrilled
The Drudge Report relating something from a tabloid article. Now there’s accuracy for you.

Yes, but either way she’s a shoe in.
For what a man had rather were true he more readily believes.
Phaedrus, wanna bet?
I know that HRC recently stated that she was definately going to run, but she has not officially filed to do so yet (neither has Rudy for that matter). Given the Clinton tendency to say whatever sounds good regardless of actual feelings/beliefs/reality, I will go out on a limb and predict that she will not run for the NY Senate seat next year.
What she said was, “I intend to run…” which allows for some Clintonesque interpretation.

Her exact quote was
Well heck, I could tell people I intend to jump off the Eiffel Tower, but that doesn’t exactly lock me into it.
She is as declared for the Senate race as you or I, so I don’t think she is any more locked into it than before.
I think she was crafty in her use of language to accomplish 3 things.
- Get the press off of her back for a couple of months.
- Excite her potential supporters, increasing campaign donations that she can then use however she sees fit.
- Doing the above 2 without lokcing herself into anything. This way, when she bails, she isn’t going back on her word.
Well, shut my mouth. It’s also illegal to put squirrels down your pants for the purposes of gambling.

Yeah, but isn’t it fun to read
My vote is that Hillary will run–she’s been living Bill’s life–now it’s time for her life (and I do think she’ll dump him!)
Beats me why a New Yorker would vote for a non-NYer to be the representative from NY.
Even if she meets the technical residency requirements, still, it’s like, you know…
Abraham Lincoln once posed a riddle: “If I take a horse’s tail and call it a leg, then now how many legs does it have?”
His answer: “Four. Calling it a leg doesn’t make it one.”
I’m a registered New York voter. And if it comes down to a choice between Hillary Clinton and Rudy Guiliani, Hillary will get my vote.

Damn, I think you’re right. I never considered that it COULD be Clinton doubletalk.
Dose anyone know for sure what happens to the funds she collects if she does not run? Can any of it be used of persoanl use? Can she keep it and SAY that she will use it for a future race of some kind?

If I remember my campaign contribution laws correctly (which is not my best area by any means), I think she can keep the funds and use them as she wishes, whether she runs or not.
Anybody else want to give a more official answer?
Mullinator, I think that changed with campaign reform a few years ago but I’m not sure. Anyone know?
Mike
I will cancel out your vote since I, too, am a registered NY voter. Gulliani has done a great job here in the City and will represent NY well in the Senate. He knows the issues that are important to New Yorkers, Hillary does not. Do you want the Clintons to do to NY what they did to Arkansas?

John John:
Actually, the laws about campaign finances have changed slightly. If she were to drop out, she could keep the money up to a certain amount ($2 million I think, but don’t quote me).
God willing, I will be a NY voter by the time elections roll around next year, and, if I am, you can bet your life I will vote for Guiliani. And then I’ll go back in disguise and vote for him again. I think he’s done a great job with the city, and his only downfall is that he doesn’t compromise his values. While this speaks to his character as a man, it’s not really a desirable trait in a cheif executive (President, Governor, or Mayor), or any politician, for that matter. That said, I think a Republican who doesn’t compromise is exactly what we need in the Senate (as opposed to a bitchy Democrat whose values are bought and sold like so many Pokemon cards).
BTW, there is a prevailing attitude in NYC (as I have observed it, correct me if I’m wrong) that Hillary will somehow drive the city to shit if she’s elected Senator. News flash: she will be a US Senator, making federal policies. Her direct impact on the city will be nil, unless of course she proposes a bill that would move the Yankees to Jersey or something. But a NY Senator is supposed to represent the interests of New Yorkers, and in this respect Rudy the G is infinetly more qualified that Hillary (being that she only represents her own interests).
The IQ of a group is equal to the IQ of the dumbest member divided by the number of people in the group.
I agree with you Rousseau.
Please, 2 million she gets to keep? Tell me it ain’t so?
