Citing concerns over his health situation, Mayor Rudy’s dropped out of the Senate race, leaving Rep. Rick Lazio as the only Republican for the time being: http://abcnews.go.com/sections/politics/DailyNews/giuliani000519.html
Frankly, I didn’t think he’d do this; I thought he’d hang in till the end, if only to give Hillary a tough time. Now, unless the Republicans come up with some sort of dream candidate on short notice, it seems almost certain that Hillary will win.
What do you think of this latest twist?
What do I think? Well, let’s see…
Given that, in terms of pure personal ambition, both Rudy and Hillary make Macbeth look like Little Lord Fauntleroy, I never figured either one of them was going to concentrate on getting the potholes fixed on my block in Brooklyn.
So the question is: What would they do with a Senate seat? Rudy, never much of a team player, would try to parley it into a position of greater power…President, most likely, although he prolly wouldn’t turn down a seat on the Supreme Court.
Hillary I see as more likely to try to coalesce a power bloc in the Senate, made up of other marijuana-smoking Baby Boomer Pinko Fellow Travellers, which she would then utilize to move the USA further along the slippery slope of Marxist Socialism we started down under the reign of that Jew Bastard Franklin Delano Roosevelt (whose name was in actuality Franklin Delano ROSENFELD), giving us Socialized Medicine and free condoms and forcibly taking away our handguns, SUVs, JetSkis, and power tools.
Cool. I’m in favor of that. Run, Hillary, run!
