Are these terms correct usage: (see articlehttp://www.nypost.com/seven/04042008/news/nationalnews/hillary_is_one_big_mistake_104932.htm)
anyway, how many times can you ‘mishear’-without admitting that you can’t tell the truth?
I actually believe her. They were firing questions at her at a press conference where she was trying to decline any comment on the Richardson conversation and said “that’s a no” to one of the media jackals without really listening to the question. She was basically trying to say no to commenting on the conversation, not to that specific question. I’m giving her a break on this one. It’s hard to keep up with what every single one of those assholes is barking at you during a press conference.
I think voters are going to start suffering from gotcha ya fatigue sooner or later. It’s getting ridiculous.
Og, I hope so. I’m sick of this crap.
I’m supporting Obama, and have said so many times here, but I can’t see this having any effect on Hillary worth noting.
It’s particularly hard to keep up with someone’s question when you answer it without listening. But if she says she meant to say “No comment,” I’ll take her word for it. I’m not really sure why this matters. She was criticized when it was reported she said Obama can’t win, so now she’s denying she didn’t say it? What is she trying to do?
I guess it’s because Richardson is taking umbrage at her saying that he is “misspeaking” when he says she said it, especially as Bill Clinton has been in red-faced mode claiming that Richardson promised him five times that he wouldn’t endorse Obama, something that Richardson says never happened, not once.
Maybe she did just mishear the question. But Richardson’s truth-telling record is good so far. Bill and Hillary both not so good.
To break it down. she was never trying to do anything but decline to answer questions about it. One of her answers made it appear as if she was denying having told Richardson “[Obama] can’t win.” but she was really only trying to say “that’s a no” to whether she was willing to talk about it. So they pile on her for that, and she says thats’s not what she meant to imply (basicallyadmitting she just hadn’t listened to the question) and they pile on her for that.
Thjis is why I think she’d have a hard time winning a General election. The media would continue to pounce on her every word while giving McCain every possible pass and benefit. No way they’d ever treat a Republican the way they treat Hillary.
I understand what you’re saying. I just don’t know what she’s doing. It seems to me that “Obama can’t win” is one of those remarks of a piece with “McCain and I have passed the CinC test.” So I’m surprised she would go out of her way to deny having made that kind of comment.
But she didn’t deny it, she just tried to avoid commenting on it. It was a desperation plea to try to keep Richardson from going to Obama, but once he went public, I think she regarded the phone conversation as private and didn’t want to discuss it. I don’t think she intentionally meant to deny she had actually said what was reported.
But in the video of her we get a nice glimpse into the non-answer to a question that she is pulling. Even if you put in into the perspective of her answering the question she thought she was asked, a normal person has to say “What the hell is she talking about?”
This is a tactic that has become oh-so-familiar with everyone in the current admin. It’s a given that the answers that they give have no basis in reality, but they also have the benefit of have no basis in the question. And I really don’t want four more years of that, even if it’s a Democrat doing it this time. It drives me crazy. Do they think that we aren’t smart enough to catch on to the ploy? Speak to me like a friggen grown up.
Perhaps not, but it’s an unavoidable result of trying to change “no” into “no comment,” even if she really did mean “no” the first time. She has to be aware of that. It’s out in the open at this point, she she might as well have affirmed or denied it. Instead this is another non-denial denial.
Ms. Clinton “Misspoke” and “Misheard” and, to borrow a term from the great George W. “Misunderestimated” her ability to win this election.
Go Barack!
While I agree with your closing sentiment, I think you meant to say “misoverestimated.”
Sorry, wrong Bushism. You are right of course.
But don’t tell anybody I said that in GD or I might get a bad repudation.
