Hillary Clinton, why do you hate America?

So am I, but I can’t spend my whole life crying about it!

I’m backing O’Bama. I’d be happy with either Barack or Hillary in the White House, but I bellieve nothing would pry every apathetic Republican out of his reverie like the phrase “President Hillary Clinton.”

I’m here to lambaste Aeschines, not for his frothing-at-the-mouth hatred, but for the fact that he has trotted out so many zombie lies from the dusty cobwebs of Limbaugh’s trunk.

Even the mighty Ken Starr, sifting to the molecular level, could not find anything illegal done by either Clinton in Whitewater. Nor did they have a hand in the bank failure. You can look it up.

Oh, clean the spittle off your monitor. Any cites for this meme of Hillary The Dishonest?

Okay, so you’ve got some secret videotape that shows the Clintons no longer get it on? No, of course not.

Another zombie UL. Ho hum.

Cite? I guarantee you, pal, she’s not wearing polyester.

Exactly what brings that metaphor out of your bag of tricks? The murdering Lady Macbeth has nothing in common with Clinton.

You can scream and call her names. She can handle that. It probably doesn’t bother her that you hate her. For the luvva Mike, though, get your facts straight. You only look like a brainless dittohead when you lie.

Guys, if Hillary is not a woman, then I can’t be a misogynist. As Austin Powers would say, “It’s a man, baby!”

Right. Anyway, HRC is slightly ahead in the overall Popular vote!

Mushrooms? Acid? Jack? Which is it?

Gawd. This thread represents all that’s flawed with the anti-Hillary crowd. There are plenty of reasons to dislike Hillary based on policy decisions, though let’s be honest, there aren’t many where she diverges with Obama. (AskNott, I’m calling you out. He’s not Irish.)

But dolts like the OP make me embrace Hillary even more. Because she puts up with this shit day in and day out, but still has spent a lot of her life in public service. Lesser people would say, “Fuck this, the world sucks, I’m going to do something where people blow smoke up my ass every day.” But she remains in the world of public service, walking into the Senate hated by many, and now has the respect and affection of people like Robert Byrd, Trent Lott, and Sam Brownback. Hell, if you read The Atlantic’s article about her first term in the Senate, you’d see the parallels between her political success and Obama’s. But Obama is new and the golden boy. He doesn’t have the baggage that Hillary carries and has to overcome. Trust me, with 14 more years in public life, he’d have baggage.

And before some idiot says, “she’s power hungry!” well yes, she probably is. But so is McCain and so is Kucinch and so is Biden and so is every human being that has ever aspired to this office. I think the same lofty and base ambitions drive every candidate. For those who have held office multiple times, I suggest they’re probably at least slightly more lofty than base. Why do people believe that Obama is running for president out of the goodness of his heart and his concern for the common man, but Hillary is doing it for the most base reasons? Isn’t the truth closer to they are both doing it for base and honorable reasons? Perhaps one is better at packaging it than the other, but there’s certainly ego driving this at some level.

Consider those fucking huge Obama signs with the man’s face all over them. Doesn’t that strike you as a little creepy, a little megalomaniacal? Reminiscent of Soviet-style propaganda? And if the candidate was really not about the ego, he might say, “Hey, I appreciate your enthusiasm, but maybe we could have posters with CHANGE and not my mug, like I’m some postmodern Che Guevara of the 21st century?”

Furthermore, the dipsticks that are arguing that Obama has a mandate of some kind are smoking crack. As Deth notes, this race by votes is exceedingly close. Look, I’m fair minded enough to say that Obama’s campaign has done an excellent job of learning how to use the caucus format to their advantage, and there’s nothing wrong with that - they deserve kudos. But if you believe caucuses represent democracy in any real way… ha! And I’m including Hillary’s victory in Nevada here.

Two incredibly popular candidates, by any measure. They are both raising money at amazing rates. Poll after poll shows that the voters think they are both top notch. But internet morons think that their spittle-flecked rants represent any semblance of reality need to grow the fuck up. Because you know what? The more you pull the shit, the more I realize I’m backing the right candidate.

No she doesn’t. Where are you getting that idea?

Obama has received more popular votes, even if you include Florida and (bizarrely) Michigan.

There are some numbers out there showing Hillary with a narrow lead in popular vote, but with an important caveat: Iowa, Nevada, Washington & Maine have not released popular vote totals. Obama won three of those four states, and two of them by healthy margins. If you were to add those results in, Obama would easily be ahead. (And again, that’s even including Michigan, where Obama wasn’t on the ballot).

No she isn’t. See above.

Just out of curiosity, how was Boyo Jim able to get the special moniker “Best of the Worst”? I haven’t been posting here for a few months, so did I miss something new?

Bill?

Old news.

Good Gawd, I am with you on this. The level of hatred towards HRC makes me wish I had not betrayed my card carrying NOW feminist mother by voting for Obama.

I look at it this way. Obama, McCain, and Clinton are all the same candidate packaged differently to appeal to a broad range of consumers, and all of the isms are covered for everyone’s personal hatred. If you hate women, don’t vote for Clinton. If you hate blacks, don’t vote for Obama. If you have distaste for the elderly, don’t vote for McCain. Come November, people need to put on a blindfold and randomly push a button on the touch screen. It really doesn’t matter in a one party system.

So we CAN have our cake and eat it too?

It’s fine with me just to say Hillary is a dick.

Popular. There ya go. Not “which is less hated” or “which is less repugnant”. WOW. That’s a nice change right there. But wait, there’s more!
Both are considered top notch. Holy shit! There’s a chance that either of them would be COMPETENT, and would know what the hell they are talking about! My brain is exploding! People have been talikg shit abou HRC since “Christ was a corporal”. There was always SOME reason to hate her, even before she got personally involved in politics. It always seemd to come from the same type of people.

Let’s face it. Despite who you vote for in the primaries and the actual election, ANYONE OF THEM - Obama, Clinton, McCain - ANY of them will be a hell of a lot better than what we’ve had. We should all be singing Happy Days Are Here Again.

This is heartening:
Power Resigns Over Hillary-Is-Monster Comment

At least “monster” is gender-neutral.

True. Otherwise there’d be gender-specific forms, like “monstro.”

I’m sorry to read that. It really seemed like an off-the-cuff comment by Power, the sort of thing one might say in a heated campaign and quickly regret. I’ve heard her say nice things about the Clintons in the past.

I like Power and I’m sorry she’s leaving the campaign over such a trivial mistake. I hope if Obama is elected she can return in some sort of advisory role.

I might be okay with ‘Monstress’ in the right context (describing Godzilla, maybe).
