Hillary Clinton's Presidential Campaign Discussion

I don’t think that half of Trump’s supporters fall into the deplorable category. I think it’s more like a third. But since they lean toward loud and obnoxious they seem like more.

Uh, just think that then Tim Kaine will be president. Once again, do not forget that the courts, the environment, the economy, abortion rights, and health care are on the line too.

In any case, until Trump releases a proper health report and Hillary walked around later on her own and she shows to the debates this issue is not going to be very important.

I’m not too concerned with Clinton’s health. Tim Kaine is more than fit to succeed her. Isn’t it good in hindsight that she didn’t go for an “exciting” pick like Castro?

I think you’re going to be proven wrong.

Read it again, I think you missed that I put some conditionals there.

Hope Hillary gets over her pneumonia ASAP. No fun, no fun at all.

Seconded.

Just put a Clinton/Kaine bumper sticker on my car yesterday.

Fidel Castro has health issues as well.

Good thing he’s not eligible for the Presidency.

The U.S. Presidency, that is…

She has to win the thing first.

I’m not thrilled with Hillary’s pneumonia thing, but I think Kaine (liked and trusted more than Hillary) takes a lot of the edge off of it, as **adaher **says.

What is really irking me is the coverage of the “basket of deplorables” remark. Hillary Clinton once again illustrated Michael Kinsley’s definition of a “gaffe” in Washington DC: “when a politician inadvertently tells the truth”. The tut-tutting media should be ashamed.

Jamelle Bouie in Slate and Ta-Nehisi Coates in The Atlantic both did a great job taking them down for this faux “scandal” coverage. Highly recommended reading. I just hope some of the herd of CW-peddlers in the news media are paying attention.

Trump and his people should be ashamed for sputtering and crying about it given how many people and groups Trump has been insulting for more than a year

They are running an ad that replays her comments. I think they are taking a risk doing that. It’s not obvious to me how it helps them.

ETA: To clarify, obviously it enrages those who support him (even though they could easily assume it’s not them individually she is talking about). But he is behind. I’m unclear on what undecided voter, or Hillary supporter, hears comments over and over about how “deplorable” and toxic many Trump voters are being identified as, and decides to go join his coalition out of solidarity. Not sure human nature or social psychology work that way.

Maybe rile up and push more of his supporters to the polls?

Well, he has virtually no GOTV field operation, so this might be it on the cheap.

Politician and politician’s operatives are hypocrites. News at 11.

Hillary’s comment was ill advised, at best. Saying she’s not as bad as Trump is faint praise. Her comment was right up there with Romney’s 47% comment, for which he was also chastised.

Associated Press deletes their Hillary lie, admits it’s a lie, but has any of the “liberal” press reported on it?

We got a guy here, just said, couple days ago, that if an Iranian naval vessel came close to one of our ships, and some body made a rude gesture, he might open fire. Pause to consider that gem.

Did Romney say anything like that? His “47%” remark was overly candid, really, he was pandering to his audience. But its not anything like “I might kill some Iranian sailors if they flip me off!”

Who says things like that? Who hears something like that and thinks “Well, you know, Hillary said some pretty mean stuff about some knuckle-walking trogs. So, really, both sides do it.”?

The signpost isn’t ahead, we can’t even see it in the rear view mirror any more.

Except that Clinton was talking about half of Trump supporters; Romney was talking about half of everybody in America. There is a significant difference.

How about Trump’s 50% comment?

“The problem we have right now—we have a society that sits back and says we don’t have to do anything. Eventually, the 50 percent cannot carry—and it’s unfair to them—but cannot carry the other 50 percent.”

Link.

The interesting thing here? Trump’s statement was tasteless, insulting, and completely and utterly wrong. Yet somehow, it’s getting far less press than Clinton’s tasteless, insulting, and thoroughly accurate statement. Hmm.
