Hillary Clinton's Presidential Campaign Discussion

Their writers have those bios on all the articles. Like on this one about boiled water exploding:

Believe me, I don’t like writing it, and I get what you’re saying, but yes, Clinton could be more transparent.

Before I decide if I agree with you, give me some examples of politicians that are more transparent than Hillary. Transparent relative to whom?

Barack Obama and Bernie Sanders. I don’t recall either of them having to walk back false statements, claiming that they “short circuited” or stubbornly refusing to acknowledge they were sick and trying to hide a diagnosis from their own campaign team. I don’t remember them avoiding press conferences either. Do you?

Look, I get what you’re saying – Trump is a pathological liar and Clinton has been maligned unfairly in the media. I don’t disagree. But it’s also true that Clinton could be more forthright and stop trying to lawyer her way through the campaign. I’m telling you now: she’s not going to win the election that way. She needs to start showing people that she has convictions and she needs to stop fearing the public.

This is an angle she and her campaign need to start playing up in a big way. Every tour stop in places like Detroit, Flint, Toledo, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Philly, Atlanta, Charlotte…everywhere. She needs to hammer away at this. His weakness is that he is stubborn and doesn’t like to back down to people who push “political correctness” in his face. Make him say it “Barack Obama is a natural born citizen who was born in the United States.” Taunt him and goad him in front of large crowds of minority voters and make him say it. This is one issue the media will follow and it is the one issue that might piss African Americans and other minority voters off enough to show up at the polls and vote.

One of two things will happen: Trump will either continue to try to shrug it off and the volume of the outcry will get louder, or he will give in and look a little weaker in the eyes of his supporters. She really needs to go after him on this.

He said he’ll answer that question at the right time, that he just doesn’t want to answer it yet.

Wouldn’t it be something if he’s waiting for the first debate, and when they ask him if he believes that President Obama was born in America, he simply says “Yes.”?

Boy, that would take the wind out of somebody’s sails.

That strategy might work, but it’s also possible that the issue starts doing real damage in the polls before then. But that depends on how the Clinton campaign plays the issue and what kind of media attention that receives. That’s why I think she and her surrogates really ought to start making some noise on this issue – there’s an opening that can be exploited.

If she does that, I think that also gives her more of an opening to start talking on the larger issue of racism and sexism and dividing the country at the debate. She can say on one hand “Look I misspoke and it was wrong for me to label voters like that but there is no question that his campaign is loaded with racists and sexists and I’m not going to pretend that doesn’t exist.” And again, she needs to look into the camera and talk to voters: Google Steve Bannon and anti-semitism, etc" She needs to start being the candidate with convictions. She’s got probably one chance.

Agreed. I’m surprised it hasn’t been more of an issue until now. It was the centerpiece of Trump’s serious foray into politics, and it sums up all the rest of his stupidity and bigotry in a nice, neat package.

I don’t think so. All his supporters who are convinced that Obummer is a crypto-Muslim from Kenya will see it as submitting to political correctness, and it weakens him in the eyes of any undecided voters that are uncertain about Obama. If they can’t trust Trumps bigotry, who can they trust? Is he a tough guy that stands up to liberals, or does he knuckle under when backed into a corner? Maybe they will just stay home; advantage Clinton.

Not to someone who’s done a gram of preparation, i.e. not Matt Lauer. Just follow on by asking “Then why did you say … ?” and “What have your investigators in Hawaii found, and when do you plan to announce it?” and so forth.

Well, I’m convinced.

His campaign’s statement that Trump accepts the truth of Obama’s birthplace is filled with falsehoods.

And so on.

(Washington Post link limits free views.)

That’ll be the same Trump that has several products manufactured abroad and has espoused policies that would radicalize more Muslims, create more veterans - and dead soldiers - by instigating major wars for trivial reasons, defund poorer schools, increase the income disparity between rich and poor and allow more guns to be available in the inner cities.

Because that make sense.

Except that’s not what happened. Obama released his birth certificate before Trump got on the birther train. Birtherism was a response to the birth certificate, not a movement to get it released.

I believe Hawaii released the original “long form” version after Trump’s involvement, in part due to Trump’s idiotic claims and just in time for it to be put up on the big screen at the infamous 2011 White House Correspondents Dinner in which Obama roasted Trump fourteen ways to Sunday. Remember this bit?

…and remember that, while he was mock-praising Trump for making “the tough decisions”, a team of SEALs was on its way to kill Osama bin Laden?

I bet Donald hasn’t forgotten that. I bet he hasn’t forgotten that night at all.

He’s playing 4-D intergalactic chess with her.

So, who you voting for on election day? 'Cause I’m not making a decision until I hear from all the anonymous mooks on Internet message boards.

I’m not voting for that one either, since there isn’t such a person in the race currently.

But the question was, “who are you voting for?”, not “Who are you not voting for”. I believe we already have that information. Are you embarrassed to say the name, for some reason?

How nice for our newest member to supply the latest Right Wing glurge

Might these be the Russian hackers working for Trump’s hero?

This is a lie.

Ergo,

This is also a lie.

Also a lie. Not only did Trump not jump on the bandwagon until after the certificate was released, he continued pimping the issue for years after the fact. Recall him threatening a “bombshell” shortly before the election, which turned out to be… fucking nothing.

Again, everything about this is a lie. It was not a service, it was a public nuisance, and Clinton was not the person who started it, nor did she continue to fuel it at any point - that was Trump.

Still a lie. If he was “totally focused” on these issues, he’d have something resembling a plan on any of them. He doesn’t.

By weight, this article is more than 50% lie. This is what people are talking about when they say that Trump is unprecedented in his dishonesty.
