Hillary is desperate. She has plotted and planned on this nomination for years. To suddenly have Obama show up and upset everything is hard to accept. Without him .she would have walked to the nomination. I would be surprised if she weren’t disappointed and a little pissed off.
snicker
Uh, no.
Are you saying it would have been more accurate for “decades” to be used instead of “years”?
Not a chance in hell.
While I may think that she has been riding her husband’s coattails, I don’t know enough about Mrs. Clinton’s credentials to argue the point. Thusly, I felt it best to be diplomatic.
Hell no. I never liked her, even back in her husband’s tenure. She lost any chance of my vote when she leapt on the “video games are bad” bandwagon. Now that she’s effectively trying to destroy the Democratic party in her bid to get elected at all costs, I hate her even more.
I always kind of liked her husband… until the way he’s acted in getting his wife elected.
To Revtim’s point, I feel like during this campaign I’ve gotten a taste of Hillary that I hadn’t had before, and it’s a little earwax-y.
I would have supported her no doubt if Obama faded away into nothing in the early weeks of the campaign, but it seems like her behavior in a contested campaign makes me like her less.
That’s how campaigns usually work, isn’t it? The longer they go, the more you see of the candidates, the less attractive they seem. It’s happening to Obama and McCain too.
Am I the only person on this board who doesn’t hate Hillary Clinton?
Dunno. Is the little girl who didn’t shoot at her in Bosnia a member of SDMB? Then again, that was 12 years ago.
I have no love for Hillary, but I don’t think her campaign is setting things back for women politicians in general. I think she and Bill are setting things back for people with the last name “Clinton”. Strange, because she led such a good campaign early on. Things just got off the rails a few months ago.
I agree. Like other have said, it seems as though she wasn’t prepared, practically or emotionally, to really battle out the nomination. She expected to have it handed to her. Her reactions to this unexpected challenge haven’t reflected at all positively on her character.
I was utterly “meh” about her in the beginning, although skewing towards liking her as a democratic candidate who could possibly excite people about voting democrat again (unlike Gore and Kerry). The way she’s run her campaign against Obama, though, has completely turned me off, to the point where I would almost rather vote for McCain, because I’d rather have an aboveboard Rep than a lying, manipulative Dem who can’t handle a challenging opponent.
I’m rather surprised that the Bosnia sniper claims haven’t elicited more upset from dopers.
Someone shooting at me and my child would create a rather indelible memory, and would not be one about which I’d need to consult with aides and recorded footage to clarify my recall.
At least she’s consistent. Liar before, liar now.
And this is why we can look forward to four more years of a Republican Executive. Nothing fills the tiny hearts of Republicans with glee like the spectacle of the two Democrat candidates clawing each other like two cats in a bag.
I’m amazed at the number of Democrats saying that they won’t vote for the other candidate. That’s a Republican dream come true.
Bitch, your automated political machine called me last night after I went to bed. What on earth makes you think I *that *will endear you to me?
At 3 AM? Did you decide to launch the missiles?
When the phone rings at 3 AM, who do you want to answer it?
The brand new ANSWER-TRON 9000!!! Now with EXTREME DIPLOMACY and new Beach Boys hold music. Made in the USA. Only $29.95. Offer void in Rhode Island.
Cut her some slack, she “was sleep-deprived and misspoke.” Just who we want answering that phone at 3AM.
Fucking called me too. I have no idea how the hell I got on some og damned call list as I’m not registered as a democrat. When the primaries were on I got 15 phone calls over two days from someone who’s district I’m not even in. I called the fucker, emailed them and they still called. So last night when Chelsy started her spiel I wanted off the list. They said press 2 for more options. Don’t fucking do that as I was told I would now get more calls!
So fuck all politicians who call.
I have to ask this: even before it turned out that a little girl read a poem to Hillary and she didn’t actually lead Chelsea, Sheryl Crowe and Sinbad through the first scene of Saving Private Ryan… did nobody else find her remark “If a place was too dangerous, too poor or too small, send the first lady” to be thoroughly risible and obviously false in the first place? I believe she brought up the Bosnia thing in support of that contention.
What the hell would it say about Bill Clinton if he was constantly sending her to places that were so dangerous he wouldn’t go himself? Too small or poor, I can buy - it’s another way of saying “they sent me to places that weren’t important enough for Bill to bother with.” I expect that. But even before it came out that she was lying about Bosnia specifically, who believed the administration was using her as their ultimate problem solver?
