Hilltoppers?

I saw a sticker on the rear window of a pick-up truck today. I don’t remember what it said, but I think it might have been ‘Hilltoppers – Founded 1948’. I could be wrong about ‘Hilltoppers’.

I’m curious to know what this (possibly not) Hilltoppers is.

Don’t know where you are or where the truck was from, but the “Hilltoppers” at LaGrange College in Georgia are a group of students selected to give tours to potential students.

I don’t know where the truck or the driver were from, but it was sighted in Orange County, CA.

The hilltoppers motorcycle club was founded in 1945 in Long Beach CA.

Could have been the Long Beach, California based Hilltoppers motorcycle club, which has a sticker very similar to the one you describe. It says “Hilltoppers est. 1945.”
Could also have been a reference to Western Kentucky University, whose athletic teams are called the Hilltoppers. If I’m reading the WKU wikipedia entry correctly, their athletic program started in 1948 as a member of the Ohio Valley Conference.

There’s a group called the Hilltoppers whose goal is to climb the highest point in each state. Admittedly, that’s going to be harder in, say, Alaska than it would be in, say Florida. No idea when they were founded.

Maybe it was these guys and you misread the date on the sticker. My favorite song of theirs was From the Vine Came the Grape.

FWIW: The sticker was three inches in diameter and dark green, with orange writing. ‘HILLTOPPERS’ arced over the top, and I think ‘EST. 1948’ was in the middle. But I’m not sure about that.

No, those are Highpointers.
