Hinterland Who's Who - Spiders on Drugs

I don’t know if you Murkins are familiar with the Hinterland Who’s Who series of short nature films from our childhoods, but I think the Canadian Dopers will enjoy this.

Dave showed that to me earlier this week. I got a little homesick when I heard the music… then it sorta started to go weird…

Excellent! Funny, eh, how that simple little flute tune is burned into our brains for all time? Didja know they’re doing a new series now?

My trip to nostalgialand would be complete were I to hear one of the real old Kraft commercials where some man with a delicious voice told us how to create wonderful recipes with improbable Kraft ingredients. No matter how wierd the recipe, everything sounded wonderful because of that lovely voice.

Great. Now I want Marshmallows and beer enrobed in Softee Toffees.

You’re forgetting the Velveeta.

Mmmm, Velveeeeeeta with Jet-Puft marshmallows, Kraft Caramels and Softee Toffees. And beer.

With a side of poutine. And maple syrup. And nanaimo bars for dessert.

You know, those Hinterland Who’s Who things never told us that beavers were crazy, and to steer clear of them. Although thinking about it, steering clear of 40 pound rodents is always a good idea.

How did they get someone who sounds exactly like Russ Germaine?

You don’t have to be Canadian to find that laugh-out-loud funny. Oh geez. The caffeine spider. Wheee! I can, however, only imagine the extra layer of funny added by the familiar voice and music.

I am never going to look at the wilderness in the same way again.

That was fantastic! Thanks so much for the link.

Yeah, thinking about the caffeine spider is still putting a smile on my face. And the crack cocaine spider, in his low rider, busting a cap in the caffeine spider’s ass. And the THC spider spinning himself a hammock…

Sorry - didn’t mean to imply that only Canadians would find it funny.
