Hip Jacksonville FL ???

“In its annual Survey of the Hip Places To Be, the Hipness Institute in Santa Fe, N.M., declared Jacksonville the hippest city in the United States. Each year, the institute surveys hundreds of cities and towns around the country, measuring various hipness quotients in food, fashion and lifestyle.” from the Times Union paper on April 1st.

This has got to be an April 1st joke from the world’s worst newspaper… Has you local newspaper done something as so stupid? I want to hear of good funny April 1st - fete de poisson stories! I need another cup of coffee.

Slow news day, huh? That sounds like something from a middle school newspaper. Hip indeed…

My coworker told us this morning, very calmly, that he hit the lottery this weekend. Oh, April Fool hahahaha

The newpaper I get had a column saying stuff like Marshall Fields was changing it’s name back to Hudson’s and that The Detroit Institute of Art was going to sell all their artwork and turn it into an aquarium.

My mom read the Hudson’s one first and thought it was true.

Hmmm… Dunno.

J-Ville used to rank way up the list on friendliest city in the US, as well as way up on the list of best cities to live in. It’s got (or until recently, had) a pretty decent club scene, with many small bands about the place, and even a few that have gone national.

But “Hip”?!

I dunno…
I’m thinkin’ “Joke”

Here’s a link to the stories in question, from the Lifestyle page, that includes the story FCM linked, and some more.

I like the Young Republican mayor’s rap CD (“Short Answers”).

Note who the co-director of the Hip Institute is - Francis Bavier, aka Aunt Bea from Mayberry. And if she don’t know hip, who does?

Of course, most of the Times-Union’s editorials read like an April Fool’s joke.
