Hipp-hipp-horayyy-hoooo-heyyyy-hoooo......

Man-o-man-o, I am so jazzed. Here is my situation…

My three favorite things to eat in this world are 1) eggs, 2) cold cereals, and 3) chips and salsa. When I was a freshman in high school, I found out that the reason I had been having headaches almost every day for the previous 6 years is that I am allergic to eggs (which I had for breakfast every day). Damn. Well, I was able to deal with that. I just started to eat cereal twice per day. I missed eggs, but my breakfast (favorite meal of the day) was still cool. Well, last year I developed a lactose intolerance and had to stop eating my cereal (and don’t EVEN give me that “eat it with water” garbage you sick bastards). Crap. Breakfast sucked now. There’s nothing good left for breakfast. At least I’ve still got my afternoon snack of chips-n-salsa, and I can just replace my late night snack of cereal with that dreamy corn/tomato/pepper snack. But breakfast still sucked. I tried one of those lactose free milk thingies, but it didn’t taste much like milk, and it made me just as sick as the real stuff.

I’ve been REALLY craving cereal lately, and broke down and tried one of the lactose free things again. I must have gotten a bad batch of the lactose free “milk” before, because this one tasted JUST like milk, and has not made me sick at all. It tastes so good, breakfast is back!™ Hipp-hipp-horayyy-hoooo-heyyyy-hoooo……

Well, as the brits say…

Pip, pip, Cheerios!

Steve,

You might try Soy Milk…no it doesn’t taste bad, actually pretty good and even though I am a meat-a-tarian, I don’t poopoo those sorts of things.

Anyhow it might be worth a try.

Lactose intolerance sucks, doesn’t it?

I have to keep most dairy to a minimum, eggs included. There a several cheeses that I can eat, and I like yogurt, so I get my calcium. As for cereal, I eat it as a snack, dry, right out of the box. My personal fave is Cinnamon Grahams.

Glad you found a good lactose-free milk, though. I haven’t tried any of that yet. I probably should. What kind are you using?

This space blank, until Wally thinks up something cool to put here.

Cristi,

It’s called “Vitamite 100”. The only thing that sucks about it is that I’ve only found it in 1/2 gallon cardboard cartons. I much prefer the 1 gallon plastic jugs. Sounds like a minor issue, but I can always taste the cardboard and the wax on those durned cartons (no, I’m not licking the carton). Also, 1/2 gallon just doesn’t cut it. I’m a real cereal junkie. Gotta have a gallon if they’ve got it.

techchick,

I’ll try a soy milk next. This milk looks to be a hybrid of sorts. It’s got soy and dairy components.

Rysdad,

mmmmmmmmm… Cheerios…

My doctor recommended that I try soy milk for my asthma, and it really isn’t bad, though it doesn’t taste much like milk.

Careful you don’t get the flavored kind, though; you want plain for going on cereal.
