Hippie Retrospective Road Trip

Charlotte, and nearby, this coming weekend.

Cool!

I will be able to stop off in Raleigh on the way back, which could be the following week, Monday I guess, or perhaps later if that works out better. I might go to Florida, if my old gaming buddy is up for company. That could come before or after Raleigh.

Email me if you really want to set specifics up!

The Rail Pass thing makes short train trips free, so the cost of travel is already paid, in that respect.

I am still on Vacation, and still interested in seeing folks, just not doing the wandering hippie thing. It turned out to be a whole lot more difficult in the new millennium.

Well, I am here, posting from Casa de Libertad, (Maison du Liberté) in North Carolina. A peaceful and comfortable abode, in the company of Libertarian and Edlyn. Lovely country, and I am enjoying the company, as well.

Any Raleigh folks who might want to get together this coming week should let me know (Either here, or in email) so I can plan the return trip for a stop off in Raleigh. I will try to make it to any venue within reasonable distance from the Amtrak station. Given a date, and some feel for time, I can figure out the schedule, and post my ETA. I would love to meet each and every NCDoper. I’ll be the guy with the sign that says “Will debate for food.”

Tris

Are we allowed to bump our own threads?

Oh.

Nevermind.

I will be heading out from Libertaria tomorrow morning. Off to Florida, unless I hear from Raleigh. (Well, off to Raleigh, in any case, but will be passing through, unless I hear otherwise.)

Tris

No, but, this isn’t your thread.

Tris

I hate to be negative…

In Central Florida, there is a place called Ocala National Forest. Campgrounds abound there – look for them, especially Alexander Springs (east of Umatilla).

But stay away from the Rainbow People. They have a pretty bad reputation around here as supposedly harmless hippies who will steal you blind if you so much as bathe. Be careful.

To anyone who didn’t e-mail Tris, you missed a visit from a most unassuming and gentle man, who came bearing gifts of fine chocolates, gourmet coffee, and a recipe for chicken chili that he prepared for us. His visit was all too brief. Now we know that the heart behind those butterflies is genuine, having been spell-bound by his insights and stories. Thanks, Tris. God go with you always.

Well, Raleigh is not yet a lost cause! I still have ten days of Rail travel already paid for. Any Raleighites still interested let me know soon, though.

Tomorrow I am off to the Races. Pimlico.

Perhaps I will get rich.

Tris

ME ME ME
:waving a hand:
Stop in Raleigh, will you?

Ok, talked me into it, you silver tongued devil, you.

Tris

So, I am in Raleigh, where the teeming few met me for some rock and roll and barbecue, and good conversation. Aenea has been kind enough to show me the highlights of Raleigh social events, for the evening. They happen to have a barbcue celebration, which we attended. Oddly enough the prize winning BBQ producers were all from Ohio, New Jersey, and Virginia. (Go figure that!)

Good food, though. Charming company, as well.
