The family is heading to Indian Rocks Beach for a week in early June.
We’re definitely going to dedicate most of the week to sitting on our butts in the sand, sitting by the pool, going to the water park, and hitting the pier in Clearwater, but we’d also like to spend a day or two exploring the cool stuff in PIE.
The Dali Museum is definitely on the agenda.
Other things we’re interested in:
Kid’s museums, record stores, book stores, galleries, vintage stores, arts districts, and such. Having a three year old in tow means we’re not going out to punk shows. Are there any particular neighborhoods we should check out?
Also, I’d like to eat my weight in oysters at some point, so raw bar recommendations are definitely on point.
Fort De Soto Park is a pretty cool place to check out.
The Dali museum is definitely worth it, so glad it’s on your list. There’s also a really good Chihuly exhibit museum in St. Pete that’s well worth going to called the Chihuly Collection.
If anyone in the group is into cars, there’s a great classic car museum with some cool dragon-esque sculptures made of old car parts welded together outside of it, the Tampa Bay Auto museum. Worth a stop just for the sculptures, but the cars are great, too!
Solomon’s Castle is fun, albeit a little out of the way, it’s about 30 miles outside Tampa. An eccentric artist made a fake castle and stocked it to the rafters with quirky art work. The grounds are pretty, too. Depending on your car situation and driving route(s), may be worth stopping there.
