The Brewster brings up an interesting question. I have just one question. Why aren’t the Homophobe Twins and Hypocrite-4-ever responding?
Not sure precisely how these attacks are disingenuous. How can they observe Proverbs and ignore Matthew?
Oh, right, like everything she says about Catholicism, Jersey?
Bullshit.
Maeglin, are you serious? Did you read what TwistofFate said? Homebrew has once again conflated them (they don’t condemn folks) with His4ever (who does), in order to spin a disingenuous accusation of hypocrisy.
Yeah, there’s nothing like taking someone’s marriage and making that fodder for your third witch-hunt thread full of bullshit accusations. Homebrew should be real proud of this thread.
Oh, I have. In the spanking threads, both of them said if you don’t spank, you’re abusing your child, or something to that effect.
She also accused me and Anahita of being nosy-because we asked her about a problem SHE MENTIONED IN THAT THREAD with her daughter’s teacher.
I didn’t think of this until lunch. If she is a widow and not divorced, then I owe an abject apology.
Well, even if she were divorced but her ex passed away, she’d be allowed to remarry, no?

Sure, I’m serious. This isn’t one of those crazy rules in the Old Testament that commands you to wear your beard a certain length lest ye face hellfire.
If anything, the injunction to use corporal punishment in Proverbs is a quaint and archaic moral principle.
The prohibition in Matthew is serious, temporally more recent, and the document itself is much more central to Christianity than anything in the OT.
I don’t care about levelling charges of hypocrisy. I am just pretty curious how JC and JD can reconcile these conflicting issues.
Er, Maeg?
Zev’s a nige guy. What say we dom’t alienate him, huh?
Perhaps something escapes me, but why should Jersey (or anybody else for that matter, I don’t know her) have to detail her personnal life on a message board in order to “prove wrong” some random poster?
“It’s none of your business” seems to me to be a perfectly valid answer to such an OP…
I think he can take it. I can’t help it that I was born Reform.
My father the fundamentalist seems to believe that the story of Adam and Eve amounts to a command to be married at all times. “And the LORD God said, [It is] not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.” This appears to supersede Jesus’ words about divorce and remarriage. He’s now ending his second marriage, and I expect him to marry again within a year or two.
Sorry to drag in family gossip, but it irks me that so many Fundamentalists, who take every word of the Bible literally, can ignore the bits that personally inconvenience them.
And this is in no way an attack on Jersey_Diamond or Joe_Cool, because I don’t know their circumstances. As has been said, JD could be a widow or a victim of adultery.
If she’s not, though, she has some ‘splainin’ to do. No one on this board can expect their personal lives to go unexamined, if they bring up their personal lives at all. We have heard: JD and JC are Biblical Inerrantists; JD has a child; JD and JC are marrying. We have also heard the words of Christ on the subject of divorce and remarriage. Unless an explanation is offered, people certainly will call them out on charges of hypocricy.
And if that offends JC or JD, they should keep quiet about their personal lives altogether. People on this board remember what is said; they can put 2 and 2 together; and when something doesn’t add up, they WILL say something.
What you can help, is your ignorance of the subject. There is, in fact, no law about length of beards in the Bible.
If you want to ridicule things, at least make sure you know what you are talking about. And this is not the first time you’ve done this, either.
Because they all preach to us about how sinful we are. If she is divorced, then she is being a hypocrite and should quit telling people they are sinning. It’s relevant to her other posts.
If they can throw mud at us, for not wanting to beat our children with belts, books, and wooden spoons, certainly we can cast aspersions for being divorced.
Because only Heathen get divorced, you know. :wally
I’d throw out a Bible quote or two, but I see no point in beating people of other religions upside their heads with a book that is holy.
I was being facetious, Izzy. I thought it was pretty obvious, and clearly andros did, too. I have nothing to apologize for.
I assume you have a cite for the assertion in your second paragraph.
I was also called an idiot, but I found that amusing.

Not offhand. But I’m sure I can dig it up, if you’d like.
Knock yourself out.
Well, they probably use banks and credit cards, eat pork, eat shrimp, wear mixed clothing, wear their hair in braids, have glasses, have tattoos, etc, etc, etc.
