And I don’t mean platform hijacks, you smart-alecks!

I heard on the news this morning that, prior to 9/11, there hadn’t been a hijacking of a domestic US flight in 20 years. I’ve been on the FAA’s Crimes Against Civil Aviation site and they only go back to 1996.

Anyone got the Straight Dope for me? I tried to search but you wouldn’t believe the number of hits for the word ‘hijack’.

I believe that on the 11th I heard a lot of news reports saying that they were the first hijacks in the US in over 10 years, and that the last one was in the '80s.

But, I was alive and well in the 80s, and I don’t remember it happening.
