Hitchhiker's trailer looks terrible

Wow, I have to say, all three trailers are making me lot more hopeful.

Surprise #1: I think I will actually buy Mos Def as Ford.

Surprise #2: I don’t think their characterization of Marvin is going to annoy the shit out of me as I suspected.

Surprise #3: I don’t mind Zaphod only having one head. I mean, think about it: Sure they could have gone with some CGI, but then, let’s face it, every time you saw Zaphod would some stupid, cutesy double-headed CGI sight gag, and the pacing of the film would have died a horrbile, writhing death on the floor of the theater. There were polenty of points in the books where I forgot ZB had two heads, so lacking them in the film allows him to actually be a character.

Consider me converted! I’ll be there.

It seems they should have had a UK release on February 4 and a US release on April 2. That would have made the release date 4/2 in either case, and the US fans wouldn’t mind the two-month wait for something like that… would they?

Seems a bit late for a February release anywhere.

Whee! This month! It looks good. Let’s just hope it IS good.

If by not minding you mean killing everyone involved in such an idea ;).

Pretty please. How is it that someone out there is trying to turn Hyperion into a movie(it is possible, turning it into a good movie on the other hand…) while a perfectly manageable book like Dirk Gently gets ignored.

That sounds like a really cool way of losing most of their target audience to downloaded copies off the internet.

If you watch really closely Zaphod does in fact have a “second head” (no not that one you sickos!)… just not where you would expect it to be (again, heads out of gutter!!!)

They just better include the lines, “Bloody apathetic planet; I’ve no sympathy at all” and “Life. Don’t talk to me about life.”

Based on the trailers I’ve seen, I’m happy with the casting of Trillian (not a bimbo, like in the BBC version) and very happy with the casting of Ford Prefect! Being a Yank, I always associated him with Hunter S. Thompson (while realizing, of course, that Adams would have in no way been influenced by him). But that’s always how I pictured Ford: tall, skinny, bald, tan and homely. Mos Def is a few shades darker :stuck_out_tongue: and a few degrees handsomer than the picture in my head, but otherwise spot-on! And Alan Rickman and Stephen Fry doing voices! Geek joy overload!

Yes, I thought Zaphod would have an extraneous neck coming out of his real neck with a head attached to it. Or even perhaps a head attached to his shoulder. Oh, well. I’m not going to let a little thing like that stop me from enjoying the movie, though.
