Hobbit Movie -- I've seen it! [open spoilers]

So, Jackson has to explain the humor to you now, too?

Whoosh?

Hah! Whooshed the whoosher!:stuck_out_tongue:

Just watched it at home. Meh. Very disappointing. Too long. Too many battle scenes (to stretch it out, I suppose). Why are half the dwarves freakishly cartoony with big funny noses and hair, and the younger ones and the hero semi-hot regular guys? Do dwarves turn into garden gnomes at a certain age? I did think Martin Freeman was excellent as Bilbo, I liked Gandalf as always, and it was an OK way to kill three hours, but overall…meh.

At the end, when they spotted the mystical mountain, their goal, about 100 miles away, I felt like yelling at the screen, “call those eagles back, that’s a hella long trip ahead.”

I also just got around to watching it, and I only just liked it. I don’t know how it is in the book, but them all standing on the stone giants and not a single one of them getting hurt, and then they are on some bridge and it falls down about a mile and again no one gets hurt, even after the Goblin King falls on them. Ugh. I know it is fantasy cartoony and such, but that was too much. It is too long as well, but still I enjoyed it overall, especially the scene with Bilbo and Gollum.

In the book the giants are mentioned only in passing and the goblins chase is desperate, cramped and in tunnels - not a Lego game environment.

My kids, however, loved the bit where the dwarves have crashed down hundreds of feet and are slowly recovering when the Goblin king falls on top of them.
