I’m so happy to see the NHL getting geared up for another season. What a great sport – you get to run into people and knock them over, and they give you a big stick, too!
Oh, yeah, “Columbus Blue Jackets” is a really dumb name. Wuss name. Distinctly unthreatening name. I’d hate to lose to a Blue Jacket, or be traded there (no disrespect to the city – I like it).
Thanks Montfort. You’re the first person that’s been able to answer that for me. I guess I could have looked it up, but I’m too lazy. God, I can’t wait for Oct. 4. I’ve been going through major withdrawal since we lost to New Jersey a few months ago. That and they’re not showing any preseason games this year for some reason. Oh well, life goes on.
Maybe Anaheim will move, and the new team will pick a better name. Then again, they might move to San Antonio and become the San Antonio Texans (sigh).
I wonder why Columbus went with the Civil War thing. I can’t recall any cool Civil War battles that took place in Ohio. Most of the cool battles were in coastal states.
I’m in Dallas. And I’m excited. They have a new forecheck in place, so it looks like we might actually get to see some scoring this year. That’s right, as much as we love our team, playing nothing but defense does get tiring after a while.
I really don’t care if the Wild don’t break 20 games this season. They can get slaughtered, for all I care. I’m just happy that hockey is back in a state where it truly belongs.
October 4, eh? What you lot need to do is get yourselves a major junior team to tide you over. Season started Sept. 15 around these parts. Go Mooseheads (well, maybe not so much the above Calgary and Montreal fans).
Canucks all of the way. No doubt about it. The Sedin twins are looking good.
Truth of the matter though, I prefer the WHL. socpro69 has it right, get yourself to a minor game, the pace and excitement is way better than anything the NHL can offer. And for a cheap price too. Go Cougars.
I have season tickets to the Brahmas, a WPHL team. But they don’t have their first game until Oct. 12. It’s the only other hockey team we have within a couple of hours from here. We used to have the Fire, who were CHL, but the Brahmas took all their fans. Andy Moog owning the new team didn’t hurt at all, either.
Yup. I’m up north in Prince George, going to school. If I may be so bold, where are you at?
As for the Canucks, what can I say about them? They are looking better since they got rid of their deadweight (read: Messier and Mogilny), and now it leaves room for some of the younger players to step up to the bat, as it were. I think we’ll make the playoffs this year.
Neil Smith has joined the Mighty Ducks staff, probably in an effort to show the world that he can screw up more than just the NY Rangers.
Yuck. I hope you’re all happy now.
