Going to a hockey pool tonight - any suggestions for strategy in picking? Who do the Dopers think are going to make it to semi-finals? The final?
I’ve heard of ice hockey…field hockey…street hockey… but never hockey in a pool!

RumMunkey, I’ve been an Islander fan for so long that I can remember them when there were no banners in the Nassau Coliseum. Still, I must ask - what are you smoking and why aren’t you sharing? DP still isn’t cleared to play. Don’t get me wrong - I’d love to see it happen, but I wouldn’t put any more money than I already have on it. 
I like the top 4 seeds in the East to advance - Sabres / Devils / Thrashers / Senators. In the West, I like Red Wings / Ducks / Sharks and I can’t choose between Stars vs. Canucks.
The Islanders made it by the grace of a shootout point. They should be making their tee times cause they ain’t gonna make it any farther.
1)Detroit/Calgary is a toss up. Either one is good as a pick, and I say this as a Red wings fan.
- Do not pick Dallas or Ottawa. They have a long tradition of choking in the playoffs.
3)Pittsburgh and Minnesota are much better than they are seeded.
4)San Jose will crush the Nashville Predators.
5)Unfortunately, defense and goaltending win championships.

I think you’re right about Minnesota, but Pittsburgh is not as good a team as Ottawa and boy, did it ever show tonight. They looked completely outmatched.
They can’t possibly be beaten that badly four nights in a row, but my prediction that Ottawa will not have a lot of difficulty with them is lookin’ good so far.
