This is actually a bad year for data - even business is supporting the Dems, as word on the street seems to be that the Republicans are dead meat in 2008.
Hollywood is also far more than actors. How do the writers, directors, and crews vote? How does the over-representation of Jews in the business affect things. (I don’t know about Hollywood, but in NY we fit right in, and those who weren’t Jewish used Yiddish anyway. )
Remember, also, that being in the union is not a choice - it is required to work on real projects. But, like I said, the union actually works, so Republican anti-union sentiment might crash against reality.

Also consider the changing meanings of liberal and conservative. They’ve all shifted to the left. To the rest of the world, our liberals are still generally regarded as being to the right. Unfortunately there’s not a whole lot of distinction between either of them these days, because they’re both acting in a very populist fashion.
