I just saw the new Costner flick Free Range -for once the gunfight sequence didn’t use hoary cliches (let alone the stupid coreography a la The Matrix ) -well Cosner fans his Army Single Action once I think-Anyone else come up with anything on par with this? The only ones that sprong to mind right off his Michael Mann’s Heat and James Cann’s Thief .
That would be Open Range. Terrific film.
Not exactly the most realistic movie, but I’ve always liked John Woo’s Hard Boiled. Lots of innocent bystanders mowed down, which, quite frankly, is what would really happen in a gun battle where thousands of rounds are expended.
