John John:
If you wish to continue casting aspersions at people who were actually able to understand a post that you have consistently misrepresented, please do so in the PIT where we may respond appropriately. If not, please have the courtesy to abandon the practice of insulting the integrity and motivation of people who disagree with you on issues of fact.
Speaking of which, I must take the opportunity to point out that the clarification which CK offered and which settled the issue in your mind did not alter the meaning of the original statement.
“It is {A}”
“it’s the same as, for example, {A}”
The denoted value of those statements has not changed. The second does make it more clear that the equivalence referred to is a class membership rather than a simple identity, but that is a conotation which was clear from context to many of us who read the original. The word “is” has no trouble functioning as a marker for class membership. That is a fact.

Asking for clarification of a poorly worded comment is HARDLY “casting aspersions.” At least two other posters thought it was a cumbersomely phrased statment also. CKDexthavn has even said that perhaps he should have used a different phrasing to make it clearer.
The issue is closed, since Ck has posted clarification.

Your nonsensical invitation to bring this issue to the pit is not fair to the delicate topic of discussion, me, or CKDexthavn.

I am not surprised that you managed to misunderstand CK’s statement, but I am amazed that you cannot even understand your own. Your intent here was clearly to insult those who disagree with you. However, since the failure in comprehension actually occurred on your part, I suppose all you really accomplished was to find a new way to call yourself names. that being the case, I withdraw my objection. Feel free to abuse yourself in any way you find pleasurable.

Spiritus, happily the issue is over, you may disperse, run along, there is nothing left to discuss. You may resume your normal activities, such as they are.

Tell me, am I Moe, Larry or Curly? I’d rather be Moe. He was the brains of the outfit, though that ain’t sayin’ much.
You coulda fooled me, Junior.
No, you don’t.
Yes, I do.
You don’t have to meet Holocaust deniers and/or revisionists in person, you just have to read what they’ve written. A website mentioned by that anonymous letter-writer I mentioned on Page One should give you some idea what these people are like: www.codoh.com . That site is HUGE. (And almost every link opens a new window, so browse at your own risk.) I can’t believe someone would spend this much time and energy on this site if he didn’t truly believe the Holocaust didn’t really happen the way it did. If he’s joking, he’s got WAY too much time on his hands. And in either case, the poor guy needs therapy and perhaps powerful psychotropic medication.
One mindset needs to be mentioned here: I think some people have trouble accepting the Holocaust because they have trouble believing that human beings can be THAT evil. They disbelieve its scope not out of hatred or fear of Jews and Gypsies and the others, but because of this:
“If ordinary Germans had such a great capacity to be so evil or so indifferent to the plight of others, then so might I and my friends? No, I refuse to accept that. Something so monstrous can’t happen here and it didn’t happen there. It’s just too big to be real. No one is THAT evil.”
I totally and absolutely agree with what you say here. It is 100% true and accurate. I would, unfortunately, add haters to that list, people that want to HIDE THE TRUTH, and give the new generation a false history because they can’t deal with the real history.
To the first group, the ones who find it hard to deal with the horrorable reality, the truth, yes, it is hard to imagine, BUT IT ACTUALLY HAPPENED.
To the second group, I would not waste my time, anymore than I would if someone were trying to convince me that the Mooon was made of Edam cheese. I will not read that link, sorry, I just wouldn’t waste that much time on shitheads.
QUESTION: is there anyone on this board that doubts the Death Camps happened and that millions of people wre murdered?

In…I forget the exact date, sometime in early 1943 I think (it was soon after the U.S. entered the war), there was a conference in Wansee (sp?), where a group of top-ranking Nazis sat down and planned out the details of the “final solution”. A secretary was present who took notes all the way through, and these notes survived the war. It’s really fascinating; surprisingly, several of the Nazi leaders were dead set against the plan - it took too many men, bullets, and especially trains away from the war effort. You really get a sense of how warped these guys were as you see them argue their way around to justifying the expense.
A movie was made out of this called, imaginatively enough, “the Wansee Conference”, which is really, really interesting. There was one guy (whose name escapes me) who argued strongly throughout that it was too expensive, impractical, risky (for various reasons), and just a bad idea. The movie was brilliantly done, in that you are left wondering whether this guy (a) realized what they were setting in motion and was appalled to be part of it, and was making the only arguments he felt his colleagues would accept, or (b) he really did just feel it was too expensive and impractical. Catch it if you get the chance.
