Holy COW! I am never swimming in the ocean again!

Someone caught this momser off the coast of Nova Scotia.

Two questions -

  1. What kind of whack-job goes and LOOKS for this kind of trouble?!?

  2. Anyone up for a dip? C’mon, the water’s like 60 degrees!

Looks like we’re going to need a bigger boat.

I’m sad that they killed the shark. :frowning:

Actually, so was the dude on the boat who hooked ‘her’… and so was I…

My sentiments exactly.

sigh

I’m sad that I was doing something else that day. This is the first time I’ve ever even gotten to see pictures of the thing. I was not happy when I found out what I missed.
Oh, and whack jobs? Doesn’t everyone go shark fishing?

Seeing as how one of my personal phobias is any animal that can actually EAT ME WHOLE, then I think the answer is no.

Are Great Whites not a protected species in Nova Scotia?

What a shame.

It wasn’t a white; it was a Mako. Whites are protected in both the US and Canada (IIRC)…

Whoa! That is a big Momser! :stuck_out_tongue:

I agree, it’s a shame they had to kill her. I guess things get a little bloodthirsty when you go shark fishing with your chums.
The crazy guy was the one who leaned over the boat to cut her throat, since she was thrashing quite a bit and throats tend to be in close proximity to the nasty pointy teeth.

shudder

Sharks absolutely fascinate me and have ever since I was a child. However, they absolutely terrify me and I’m nervous about swimming in oceans, even when I rationally know that I had a better chance of dying in a car crash on the way to the beach than I do of being killed by a shark. That doesn’t stop the small voice in the back of my mind from reminding me that there are monster fishes in the water that would EAT ME ALIVE, though…

I bet that shark can eat a whole poodle.

Please tell me this was intentional.
“Shark Fishing with your chums.”

Heh!

A “chum line”, or “chum” is in reference to the bait that is used to attract sharks to the surface and eventually a hook.

“Chum” can also be used to refer to a friend.

The pun is always intended. Thanks for noticing.

‘Chumming’ is also slang for vomiting overboard from seasickness.

Just thought I would add that!

Chumming sounded dirtier than it actually is.

Mako is tasty, and she has a lot of prime meat on her, the shame would be that she went to waste and was not turned into steaks…

I am sure the Profanisaurus would have more… um… interesting meanings.

Not that I looked it up.

Really.

Asshole.
