HOLY CRAP! I'm gonna run a marathon

Holy crap! You ran a marathon!

Congratulations!!

Congrats! Great write up too. It must have been a really good time if you’re already planning #2. Usually it takes a few week for someone to make that decision

Well done!

Congratulations, Scarlett! I’m so proud of you, total stranger.

Great write-up of your experience. It must feel good to know that your story will inspire other people to accomplish what you have. Well done on joining the less than 2% of the U.S. population who will complete a marathon. FWIW, I still consider you a runner, even if you had to walk out some of the course. Don’t shortchange yourself. It’s pointless.

I never did keep up my running after completing the half marathon last year. Honestly, I don’t know what happened because that was one of the happiest moments in my life. I will get back into it, though, because I also am going to complete a marathon one day. Anyway, I’m sending you virtual high fives! Way to go!

AMAZING. You rock. This is hugely inspirational for me.

I’ve never run a marathon, but I have run a half-marathon and a bunch of 5Ks. I’m with you: There are a lot of things that taste as good as being thin feels. A lot. But nothing tastes as good as the feeling of running across that finish line.

Good for you! I ran a half on Sunday!

Best sayings:

-I thought they said RUM

-if I pass out, pause my Garmin

-my race strategy is to start slow and back off

-slow is the new fast

-that’s not sweat, it’s liquid awesome

What a wonderful story! Congratulations on this tremendous accomplishment. I love running. I’m training for a 5K right now (and I’m much slower than you are.) I don’t know if I ever want to do a marathon, but I have no doubt it feels amazing. This was a true pleasure to read and it left me feeling inspired. Rock on, Scarlett!

Anybody can run for two hours. It takes a whole of something else to keep going for almost six.

Great job!

Love these!

My friend AnnMarie (who ran the half as mentioned) is a true penguin (slow runner), but she perseveres like nobody’s business. This was her 5th half; she finished in something like 3:13, two minutes short of her PR, and that after puking twice along the course (she had some sort of bug). She is one tough woman! She’s planning to run her first 26.2 at Disney this winter. She rocks!

Well, as I said, there was a fair amount of walking toward the end, but I did not require a body bag to leave the finish line area.

Thanks, everyone! Still sailing and looking forward to hitting the pavement again.

Today was the big day. I had a goal of 4 hours. I started out too fast, and right around the midpoint, I realized that I wasn’t going to be able to keep up the pace. I walked off and on much of the last 7-8 miles, but eventually did finish it in 4:23:08. The best part was around mile 5 or 6 when Kesha’s “Blow” was playing on a speaker at the side of the course. I definitely could have used some more Kesha at miles 20-26.2, but that’s life. Somebody from my running club caught up to me with 2 miles to go (he started 5 minutes after me), so we ran/walked together the last couple of miles.

Congratulations!
