Holy Mackerel! Rip Taylor dead at 84

Comedian Rip Taylor, confetti-throwing staple of 1970s game shows, dies at 84

wow he did a lot of voice work in the cartoons too back in the day

I hate to say, I didn’t know that he was still alive. I do remember him from the Gong Show.

It’s been a bad year for Rips – Rip Torn passed away in July, and now Rip Taylor. :frowning:

I loved him; his humor was quick and silly. RIP Mr. Taylor; you done funny.

Well, I guess if they ever do make a Jackass 4, he won’t be in that one.

RIP

I hope they confetti the shit out of his funeral.

I remember him best for telling the “What’s brown and lies in the meadow?” joke on Steve Allen’s syndicated talk show.

The part that got bleeped:

“Winnie’s poo.”

(Hey, it was 1968!)

RIP, Rip. :frowning:

Man, my Uncle Ralph and I used to have a regular “date” to watch the $1.98 Beauty Pageant together when I was seven or eight years old. It was so wonderfully silly!

(But truly, if you’d asked me last week, I’d have guessed that Rip was long RIP.)

I liked Rip Taylor’s weird and wacky style of comedy.
He certainly was not the new Will Rogers, but his immature, “junior high school” comedy was certainly a change from the usual cavalcade of late-night talk show comedians.
At the risk of repeating myself, rip rip.

Doesn’t Carrot Top imitate it to an extent?

Well, people loved Rip Taylor, but despise Carrot Top, so Mr Top isn’t doing it right.

Now he’s hanging out with Jim Morrison and the weird naked Indian guy. RIP, as it were.

I guess it’s too late to short stock in confetti makers.
