Holy OMG, I preggers!

Well, I’ve known this for about 11 weeks, but it’s starting to sink in that this is really going to happen.

It’s a good time. I’ve got a great newly-minted husband who is a family man through and through, a newly stable job, health insurance, and great family support. I know I’m going to be grounded from my wanderings for a while, but I’m sure baby will be spending plenty of time in CA and Brazil.

I had no idea the first trimester was going to suck so much! The first week, I was walking on clouds, then the anxiety and fatigue set in I am so tired that I can barely stay awake through the day. I’m moody and grumpy, and nearly constantly worried that an accidental bite of lunch meet or too hot shower is going to cause irreparable harm. My friends think I’ve disappeared off the planet, and poor Mr. Sven has to deal with hormonal moodiness. To make things even better, yesterday my face decided to burst out with the only acne I’ve ever experienced, and I’m covered in pimples.

On the good side, I got a cheap little Doppler deal on Amazon, and I can hear baby’s heartbeat whenever I want. How cool is that?!

+1, Very Happy for you, Would read again.

Grats!

Congratulations!!

Congratulations! Would you rather a boy or a girl? (And don’t give me that soft ‘I don’t mind as long as it’s healthy’ nonsense!)

Thinking about names yet? You should totally run them by the Dopers first, there’s sure to be a consensus…

Congratulations!

I want a girl, and he wants a boy, so either way, we win.

For a girl, Victoria is the front runner, followed by Gabriela. Boys names are a little shakier, but we are thinking Matheus or maybe Roberto. A boy’s middle name will probably be “Daniel.”

Suggestions are welcome. We aren’t specifically looking for a Brazilian name, but it ought to sound nice in Portuguese. Our set of last names that sounds pretty close to “Flores Cardozo”.

Yay! Congratulations. Don’t worry about being grounded yet. Newborns are awesomely portable (as I’m sure you’ve observed in your travels) as long as you feed from the boob and find a sling you like.

It’s *toddlers *that make travel…uh…special!

OMG! Congratulations! That’s going to be one very culturally aware baby. Too cool. I’m sorry your first trimester sucks. I’ve never been pregnant, but it seems like for some women it’s awesome and for others it’s hell.

Time to start planning the nursery. Congrats. We went all out painting stars and planets on the ceiling, pink on the walls and I refinished a crib passed down from my family. Our first baby daughter was a special time in our lives.

Congrats! Happy times!

With or without the “c”? Or is that going to be a discussion point…?

Well, Sven, I guess congratulations are in order. Didn’t see that coming!

Congratulations and best wishes to you, Mr. sven, and Victoria Gabriela/Matheus Roberto Daniel sven.

Regards,
Shodan

Thanks for the kind wishes, everyone. This has been a while in the making, but I’ve been a little quiet about my personal life here, as it’s been an unbelievably eventful year. In the last two months I’ve gotten a permanent job, gotten knocked up, engaged, married, had two overseas trips and done some pretty intense fellowship interviews. Whew!

I just signed into a baby message board for the first time. I’m glad to see I’m not the only one continually freaked out! Apparently the baby is now the size of a lime (wow!), and I’m already showing pretty clearly. I have a prenatal appointment next week, and if everything looks good there, I’ll tell my work that day, as it won’t stay secret much longer!

I’d like to keep the “C”, as I really like Vicky as a nickname. My side of the family really likes the name, but his mom isn’t too enamored with it. We like Gabriela just as much, but there are already a lot of Gabi’s in the family.

Awww…A brand new wee baby Doper. I think you will find that you have a lot more energy in your 2nd trimester.

Congrats…

Congratulations, sven! A new Doper!

Wait, Vitoria is a name?

Happy congratulations, Sven! So glad for you

Not meaning to criticize, but–I hope rather that by the time baby’s gender is divined, you are both wanting a healthy child, and that it is.

Congratulations, good luck, etc.

Most assuredly that’s what everyone wants, but the question she was asked was rather specific…
