You know, it doesn’t look like she’s had her eyes (or brows) lifted so much as had her cheeks lowered. In the recent pictures she looks much less cherubic.
Are we 100% certain that the woman in the photos didn’t kill Rene and just start wearing her clothes? Seriously, that’s not the same woman. I want some DNA tests and shit.
Jennifer Grey - that’s the name I was trying to come up with! Yeah, I think she’s Jennifer Grey’ed herself into generic blonde actress.
Yeah. “That woman” is very attractive and all. But it just doesn’t look like Renee at all. That’s the issue.
She’s lost her identity as an actress. Could definitely hurt her career.
Yep. No longer interesting, bland.
Huh. I saw a headline about “Renée Zellweger’s new look” and assumed she dyed her hair or something.
Did she join the witness protection program and have plastic surgery to make sure that none of her former associates would recognize her? Because if that really is a picture of her she doesn’t look anything like herself.
Yep. Not that I liked her squinty eyed look, but it was what identified her.
She looks like she’s lost a lot of the subcutaneous fat in her face, without having lost a significant amount of body fat. I suppose you can have face liposuction, then get cheek and chin implants to take up the slack skin, and that would make her face look longer, but it’s also possible she has some kind of illness. There are illnesses that make you lose subcutaneous fat, and if you are already slender, it’s most obvious in your face. If it made her skin sag, she could have had some kind of work done to cover, or collagen implants, but ended up with different facial proportions.
Or she may be losing subcutaneous fat as she ages, which is something that happens to everyone, although it doesn’t usually become really pronounced until a person is in their 60s; it just may be premature in her, with no pathology. She did have a kind of chubby face for a slender woman.
I’m not caring all that much. If she’s not ill, whatever, you know? That woman who tried to look like a lion, and looks like a sideshow escapee likes the way she looks even if she frightens children and horses; it’s her business.
Not a horror. But a significant change in her appearance. As others have said, she pulled a Jennifer Grey.
She’s going to play the lead in Katie Couric: The Movie.
You’ll are nuts.
Jennifer Grey looks fantastic!
Renee Zellwegger, not so much. Liked her better before.
Pretty much my thoughts, except the part about wanting DNA tests. I don’t actually care that much.
I thought she was cute before. Now, not so much. Not unattractive, just reasonably aged and unremarkable.
Yes, she does look fantastic.
But she doesn’t look like Jennifer Grey. Just some generic California blonde.
Maybe I’m way off base, but I feel as though Meg Ryan had some work done that changed her appearance almost this much, but that it settled enough for her to be recognizable once again. Here’s hoping.
If I’d seen one of these photos without identifying her I’d have thought it was of any one of a number of (as has been said a few different ways in the thread) generic blonde actresses. Maybe that mom from that show, or that nurse on that other show, but not anyone whose name I’d know without looking it up.
I wonder though, if this isn’t the most publicity Renee Z has had since 2010. As far as her “not aging well” goes, IMDB makes her one year younger than I am, and she looks ten years younger than I look. (Not than I AM, just than I look.)
That’s where I think here mistake is, from a marketing sense. Looks are important for an actor, but there’s something even more important: branding. An actor, once they achieve a certain level of success, becomes a brand, with a recognizable face and public persona. It’s the brand that puts seats in theaters, not the face.
Now, it’s true that the “Rene Zellwegger brand” has been in decline over the past decade, but it still had some value, maybe some comeback potential. Now she’s lost it.
I never thought she needed cosmetic surgery, but now that she’s done it… I don’t see anything to be horrified about.
I just hope she’s FINISHED with all that now.
I quite liked that she had a chubby face because I have a very round face. Always have. It was nice to see the chipmunk-cheeked of the world represented!
I’m the same age as she is, and my subcutaneous facial fat isn’t going anywhere. Maybe I should be glad?
