Ok, my Dh will probably attribute this to my having started that supernatural thread and then watching The Others (kickass movie, though, wasn’t it?) but I swear to God I have been hearing noises tonight.
Dh is at work, and I was giving the kids a bath. Then suddenly I heard Dh call my name as clear as day. I couldn’t imagine why he’d be home, but he’s surprised me before. I quieted the kids and listened – nothing. But as soon as they got loud again, I heard a noise from downstairs. Got them quiet and again, nothing. I called out, “Hello?” but the only answer I got was the baby in my arms screaming because I forgot how he hates loud noises.
I was freaked out so I went to my room and tried to make a phone call, but I couldn’t get through to Dh. The phones where he works are screwed up right now.
I checked downstairs, nothing.
Then while I was reading the kids their bedtime stories, someone called and hung up. I have Caller ID so I called back. A woman answered and told me she’d dialed the wrong number.
Just a few minutes ago I got another call (from a different number). Another woman saying it was a wrong number.
Calm thyself, Cess. I assume you have all entryways (doors and windows) secured? Call HPD and tell them you’ve got a prowler - they’ll come check you out.
Deep breath…relax. It’s likely just your imagination playing tricks on you. Go around and recheck all your doors and windows, so you’re sure all is safe, and if you still feel funny, call a friend or neighbor to come over and keep you company.
I’m on messenger if you want to chat- icq 7133407 or yahoo suzette100
I’m ok, just nervous. I have checked and double-checked all of my doors. I am reluctant to have someone come check it out because a) I did that last time I heard noises and there was nothing and I don’t want everyone to think I’m paranoid; and b) it’s been an hour and a half. My apartment is not big enough for anyone to still be hiding in here.
Something else did happen, though. I heard the baby crying over the monitor, so I went upstairs to check on him. He was sound asleep.
I have no ideas about those phone calls, but do you keep the baby monitor on all the time? You may be picking up parts of a neighbor’s calls if they use a portable phone with the same frequency as your monitor. Or receiving baby sounds from their monitor.
Glad to hear everythings ok. Maybe the baby was crying in his/her sleep? I’ve seen my kids do that when they were young. My Dh and I watched The others last night, and went to bed around midnight where he was promptly called out by the mountain rescue  I woke my youngest and brought him to bed with me.
