Home brew Root Beer

DH and I are going to attempt to make our own batch of root beer tomorrow. We have Gnome brand extract and all the other necessary supplies.

First question is - we want to use honey instead of regular sugar, but I can’t find the ratio of how much to use (extract calls for 2.5 lbs of sugar)

Second question - if anyone has any good tips we should know, please advise.
And, the fun part, we’re trying to think of a name for our ‘brand’ of homemade goods. We’re planning on making root beer, ice cream, and vanilla extract for Christmas gifs this year, and may expand to anything that I decide I can cook well. DH wanted to name it ‘Son of an Amish’, but I’m not too keen on that.

Add vanilla or cream soda extract to your root beer. If you use extract, use 2/3 root beer to 1/3 cream soda.

Personally, I love birch beer more than anything: do you know if there are similar extract mixes for that like the stuff that you are using?

Uh, I didn’t even think about looking at the Soda Company’s website, and there it is - use 2 cups of honey… :smack:

They have these flavors - Gnome Soda
Draft Style Root Beer
Old Fashion Vanilla Cream
Spicy Ginger Beer
Autumn Red Birch Beer
Crystal Clear Cream Soda
