Meh. It’s a Dodge.
I would hope one wouldn’t bother the cops over something as trivial as a single honk when someone locks their car. And I would hope if such a person did bother the cops over it, they would give that person a good talking to about wasting their time rather than the person who dared to lock their car door without ruffling through the manual to look for an obscure setting to avoid setting off the neighborhood crank.
Yes, noise can be a nuisance, and if they were out there just honking over and over for hours, yes that’d warrant maybe making a call. But the simple honk of a remote lock. Good gravy, talk about making a mountain out of a… no not even a mole hill… a grain of sand.
I know why they lock it with the keyfob instead of the button: if they lock it with the button in the door, the interior lights stay on for a minute or so. If you lock it with the keyfob the interior lights turn off immediately. 2am is not a time you want to wait around to make sure the lights turn off on their own. Sure, they’ll probably turn off, but what if you’ve used the overhead light near the driver seat and forgot about it? That one won’t go off on its own.
Depends on the car. With mine, when the car is shut off and the doors closed, any interior light still on turns off in 20 minutes.
Why not? It’s full of gas.
Sure it will. In three or four hours…
The “Problem” is back online but still homeless, unless you call a hotel home.
Here’s my overdue update on my present situation. I had to give away most of my stuff! You can’t sell used furniture without spending a lot of time and effort and I was short on both. I found that I could not empty my apartment in 19 days so I had to pay a prorated rent through January 15th even though I was gone by the 5th and of course I had to pay with a cashier’s check.
I think everyone involved in my eviction was trying to make my exit as difficult as possible and enjoyed every minute of it!
How a corporation could hire these type of people and put them in a position where they could devise a plan to disrupt someone’s personal life during the holiday season is beyond belief. I would describe this plan as uncaring and even vindictive without giving a reason for doing it. I can only assume that this was some uncaring and unprofessional business practice designed only to bring in corporate profits. This corporation is not interested in providing any benefits for any communities. They just want to nip any complaints in the bud.
Anyone seeing my videos of the Nisan’s honking horns and saying that this is not “disturbing noise” is either delusional or drinking the corporate “cool aid”.
I plan to take a vacation and put this chapter of my life behind me as a valuable learning experience.
No worries mate! I will be back to continue my campaign to bring attention to these stupid horn-locking vehicles. I am not looking forward to making more enemies and maybe getting kicked out of my next home but the truth about these disturbing automobiles has to be told.
I am not trying to take anyone’s freedom away. I am just trying to make the world a friendlier, quieter and more peaceful place for everyone. There is no freedom unless everyone is free.
What are you going to do when you get an auto-start GM truck honking 3 times every morning in front of your bedroom window at 05:30?
Maybe it will be your truck…maybe NOT!
The bottom line is that I signed a lease before I moved in that stated “tenants shall not make or permit disturbing noises” so why was my noise complaint ignored as unreasonable?
I suppose horn-locking vehicles are only serious if YOU just got woke up by one.
Thank you for reading.

Good luck on your next eviction.
Beep!
Where can we see this video to determine if we are delusional or not?
This thread always reminds me to test the panic button on my car.
At 3:00 in the morning?
Wait, what? You had to give your things away? Um, or you chose to, rather than spend your time otherwise? And you’re complaining about the cost of staying passed the eviction date, and even the method you had to pay? But if you’re so poor, how can you afford a vacation?
I wish you luck, I know you’re going to need boatloads of it!
He doesn’t need luck. He needs therapy. Boatloads of it.
Do you have any clue how loud the foghorn is when I lock my boat dockside? :smack:
