Mmmmkay. Whatever makes sense to you in your own little world, I guess.
:dubious:
Another non-religious reason beyond the “ick factor” might be just the whole, “they’re different, therefore, they’re freaks”, or “I don’t want anyone to think I’M gay”. I don’t believe that everyone who feels that way is a secret homosexual who puts on a front to hide his or her own orientation (like Roy Cohn)-some people are just insecure and want everyone to be just like them.
I got the Green Pants thing. Guess I didn’t tie it in to Backward Red Shirt. Maybe because I don’t even know what Der Trihs is referencing in his user name.
The former. I’ve run into the idea that everyone who isn’t a Christian Conservative is a Satanist who is actively and knowingly trying to spread evil before.
On the whole, nobody really has any “choice” on their sexual preferences. I can look at a naked Brad Pitt and not feel any sexual attraction, make it Monica Bellucci and the hormones go into overdrive.
Besides, given the predominant prejudice and hatred against gays, one would be stupid to consciously make a choice to be gay, and subject themselves to ostracism and even violence. Heck, no wonder many gays remain in the closet, so to speak.
It seems to be a variation on Aristotle’s “heavier objects fall faster than lighter objects” postulation - it seemed to make sense to people and they accepted it without actually examining the facts of the matter, until Galileo actually tested it and found it false.
