I’ve noticed the last few days that my '01 Accord has a slight jerking motion when shifting (automatic) from first to second gear, often reving past 3000 RPMs before switching gears. Upon searching for information on this, there is only mention of a seat belt issue with this make/model.
Have any of you heard of any similar problems with this or similar lines of Honda cars?
According to the Alldata Web site, the warranty for all 2000-2001 Honda Accords, Odysseys and Preludes with automatic trannies was extended to 7 years/100,000 miles for a variety of downshifting and hard shifting issues.
"In certain vehicles, a higher than normal number of automatic transmissions may have defects in material or workmanship that could cause premature wear or failure. To ensure that customers have adequate warranty coverage, American Honda is increasing the warranty on the transmission (including solenoids) and the torque converter to 7 years or 100,000 miles, whichever occurs first."
(Honda says it sent a letter to owners, but I’m still waiting for a safety recall letter from GM a year later.)
Looks like they either replace the torque converter or give you a remanufactured unit.
They also give a list of normal characteristics that customers might complain about, but yours doesn’t match that list.
