2007 Honda Odyssey. A/C was blowing uncooled air. I bought a kit to recharge and that indicated the compressor clutch was not engaging. I pulled the relay. When I put it back the clutch engaged, the compressor came on and I was able to discover that I did not need coolant. The A/C worked for about a day. I replaced the relay, thinking perhaps it was intermittently failing, but that did not help. So I think I know that the A/c itself is fine, but there is some control problem. Is there anything else I can check myself or is it time to take it in.
I’d still say it’s a bad relay. I think there are two. Swap them, check contacts etc.
This bit me last summer and while I checked the fuses and relays, I didn’t do it thoroughly enough, so paid a shop fee to find the minor problem. Ouch.
Maybe the clutch itself is starting to fail? You could have someone in the car to operate the A/C switch and you can try and listen real close to the relay to see if it’s clicking. You might be also be able to put your finger on the plastic body of the relay and feel the armature moves as it engages.
Probably some diagnostics via Google to manually engage the A/C clutch.
