I’ve received notices of class actions against just about every employer I’ve ever worked for at some point after quitting telling me I’m entitled to a chunk of the settlement, so I was delighted to find a notice of a class action in my mailbox today.
This time it wasn’t against a former employer, but the gym 24 Hour Fitness of which I was a member for a short time.
The suit was regarding their practice of charging a monthly gym membership by electronic fund transfer after 24 Hour Fitness received a notice of cancellation for the membership.
So I can get either 20 bucks, or a 3 month club access certificate (valued at $149.99 to $199.99). Thing is, I don’t really want to go back to that gym - I just don’t like being around all the sweaty people, which is why I cancelled and started working out at home in the first place. I wonder though if I can sell that certificate or if it will be in my name only. Hmm…
Either way, huzzah for litigious and disgruntled people! (but only when they’re suing on my behalf)
