I join in the denunciation of public “stunt proposals”; heck, I’m against putting anyone on the spot in front of others , in general. But when you’re going to add on risk and/or expense making a whole production out of it that will disrupt the activities of otherwise uninvolved citizens, I’m not even wishing ya luck.
Yeah, that’s at most suggestive of hipstery.
Add the BS stunt proposal and then you have strong indication of douchebaggery.

If eight cars stopped in front of me on the freeway, blocking it, and people started getting out of them, I would assume I was about to be attacked.
The sheriff of my county just said that he hoped all residents with licenses to carry a gun will start to do so, in order to keep us all safe.
This is exactly the kind of situation where Gunfire Could Erupt.
Houston, you have a tag line…

The Houston Press isn’t the normal daily newspaper, it’s the free, weekly, alternative newspaper, so it’s no surprise that they are more snarky than the Houston Chronicle, the big daily paper.
But also, I would be super pissed if I was stuck in traffic because some people stopped traffic for a proposal. Also, they say that they stopped traffic for just 35 seconds, but even after the stopped cars move out of the way it’s not like traffic flow would just go back up to normal immediately.
Also, I feel a bit weird about big public proposals in general, it’s like they are trying to prove something. But this proposal wasn’t just about being big, it was about inconveniencing others; his Instagram caption was “When you shut down one of the biggest and busiest freeways in the entire country (I45) and you ask your girl if she wants to marry u, That moment is priceless love u #shesaidyes .” It makes me think that for Valentine’s Day he’ll prove his love by taking her to a restaurant and stealing food and wine from other tables, and then take her to a movie and claim to have bombs strapped to him so that they are the only two people in the theater.
Why do I get the feeling that the adding the hash tag #shesaidyes shows this to be an act of one-upmanship rather than romanticism?

Interestingly, the article reports “the couple” has been charged with misdemeanor obstruction of the highway…but the douchebag says there were 8 cars with him which blocked traffic.
Unless these were self-driving Googlemobiles, when will the other participants be charged?
He puts his fiancee in the public crosshairs and also throws his friends under the bus. They should slap a warning label on that guy “Toxic douche, stay away”

Speaking of shotgun weddings…
Or, on LA Freeways, an anti-movement.
The anti-movement on the freeway movement!
A little farther down the comments page, “May the divorce be with you” was pithy and topical as well.
