For a period in high school during the 80’s, I had a white-tailed deer skull as a hood ornament on my car, complete with a bandanna do-rag and “Cool Hand Luke” mirrored sunglasses. When I parked somewhere, people would often stick cigarettes in it’s mouth, but they’d blow away at speed. I had semi-regular contact with law enforcement back in those days, and one officer did look at it pretty close before seeing it was securely wired to the pre-existing hood ornament. He also asked if I had shot it myself. (I hadn’t, I had found it in the woods). With the benefit of hindsight, it seems rather redneckish today, but it was pretty cool among my peers in 1987 and started more than one conversation with strangers. :o
Cars are pretty generic these days, nothing wrong with “making it your own.”
Twelve years later and they’re still selling them here. just add lag bolts
I’ll add that I’ve only ever seen them on Big Texan Caddys and the odd truck here and there.
