"Horrible" companies that you love

I hate to break it to you, but when I cut the cord with Xfinity to go ISP-only they tried to give me a “free” flex streaming box too. But it will increase your bottom line bill by about $40 in TV-related “fees and taxes” that disappear if you go internet-only.

Koch brothers acquired Georgia-Pacific in 2005, for what it’s worth.

I am more of a fan of Aliexpress than most people seem to be. I suspect it’s used more by people outside the US because Amazon is not as good outside the US.

People express horror at buying stuff from the Chinese, but IMHO this is more an emotional than logical since if I bought the same things other than through Aliexpress it would still be Chinese made, almost always.

As to service and quality, I’ve generally found this to be acceptable, for the price. Things go wrong occasionally but I save so much overall that I just regard it as the cost of doing business. And IME most of the sellers on Aliexpress care about their reputation pretty much as much as anyone else.

I rarely use Amazon. It’s not as good in Australia, but also I find it has a dumbed down culture. If I am buying a totally commodity item with no technicalities and no variations, it can be OK. But for anything technical, the descriptions (if existent) are too often non-existent or vague.

And finally CenturyLink is available at my new location. Absolutely loved the service both ordering and install. No downtime at all.

Well, nothing lasts. It’s up to $114 now (after going up to $103 and then $108). Oh well. At least they’re no longer pretending that the $0.37 fees they kept adding are legitimate. They’re just raising the prices by even dollar amounts.
