My wife keeps mentioning a movie that we had seen late at night on TV around 1998, and I’d like to find it…
- 1800’s England
- Remote location, manor house whose causeway is cut off during high tide.
- Thick fog and the sound of horse and carriage approaching during high tide, but never arrives.
I have no recollection of the movie other than the above. May have been a British made-for-TV movie. I don’t even recall if it was black and white or colour.
Green Dolphin Street, I think, has some locations set at Mont Saint Michel.
I’ll see if I can look that movie up. At first glance, the Mont Saint Michel is far too grand for the one that I recall. It was more like the approach to Holy Island.
Ooo, I know this one! The Woman In Black. Daniel Radcliffe just wrapped up an upcoming film made from this. It was a book and a play, and I think there has been a TV production.
Yes, it was an English made-for-TV show, 1989. Kind of hard to find because of the rights, but it’s supposed to be available on Youtube.
Oh, that’s good news! The book was excellent. The movie (or TV production) hasn’t been available on DVD except for bootlegs.
I was going to suggest The Terror, a 70’s horror film starring Jack Nicholson. I’m remembering a causeway in that movie too, but I’m not sure.
THANK YOU slainqmind, that’s the one!
Now, do I tell my wife now, or do I wait and try to surprise her when the new one comes to the theatre?
