Hot characters played by not-hot actors

It might have been Wonder Boys, where she was presented as the “hot Dean’s wife who Michael Douglas is having an affair with.”

Speaking as a guy, I thought he was pretty good looking.

I can’t be sure I’ve seen that. Could be.

I did see that, but my memory’s vague on it. Could be.

This may be it. It’s been long enough that aside from the thrill of seeing three of my top 10 favorite actors in the same Coen movie, I don’t remember it all that well. I’m going with this one unless somebody has a picture from whatever else it might have been.

Thanks for the help, anyway!

I think Turk and Carla are very evenly matched, hotness-wise, in a very realistic way. Turk doesn’t look like a particular hottie on TV, but in person in a hospital my mother would call him “That cute young surgeon.”

Yes. Thank you for mentioning that. I only watched the first season of the show, but I thought he was - at best - average-looking, and his personality would have made me look the other way even if he had been the hottest thing on Earth. As I recall, he was a stuck-up, arrogant asshole. To his “friends.”

I have several friends who thought he was incredibly hot, though. What’s more, they were attracted to him because of his personality as well as his looks!

That still baffles me.

I’m conflicted about Judy Reyes (who plays Carla). Sometimes I think she’s “meh.” Other time I’m amazed that she settled for Turk, that Cox didn’t dedicate his life to wooing her, that JD never accidentally killed himself while fantasizing about her legs, and that neither Eliot nor Jordan ever said, “You know, I am totally okay with being the bitch in bed just as long as I get to see you naked.”

And the next scene, it’ll be back to “meh.”

I feel the same way. I think a lot of it is her hair/make-up. She has nice lips, as long as they aren’t exaggerated. But sometimes the makeup crew wants to be like, “See, she has LIPS! People like sexy lips, right? Here ya’ go! We super-sized 'em!”

I dunno. I don’t remember her being the “hot” wife, but rather the wife who loved Michael Douglas’ passion for writing over her husband’s passion for baseball.

Joey and Chandler are both played by fugly actors, I think. I didn’t think their characters came across as attractive, either. I was always baffled at how they got away with Joey being considered attractive without everyone calling them on it.

I thought they were both attractive, but I never got why Joey was that much hotter than Chandler. I definitely had a thing for Chandler–well, pre-bloated, married to Monica phase.

Really? I just thought both of them had quite-below-average faces.

This will probably have people storming my house with pitchforks and torches, but:
Colin Firth in every movie he makes. Beautiful women fighting over him? Please. He’s doughy and pasty and just sort of weird looking. He is a fabulous actor, though.
