Hot Dogs & Microwaves

I put 3 hot dogs in the microwave and cooked them for about 2 minutes. The hotdogs were spaced apart, but the ends of 2 of them touched. The hot dogs cooked well enough, but where the 2 dogs touched, it burned and stuck together.

Is there a reason for this?

Imagine two circles touch at point P like this.

Now imagine that those circles are irradiated so that they become uniformly hot at all points along their circumference.

The circles can disspiate heat into the air from all points except P, where the heat is absorbed by the other circle. You can imagine why point P would be hotter than any other point.

It is also possible that a concentratiion of energy at that point caused arcing or ionization of the steam creating a hot plasma at that point.
