Hmmm, I’m not convinced that video isn’t supposed to be funny.
It doesn’t have a lot of well executed laughs, but it does kind of seem to me that it is meant as an expression of the artists’ sense of humor- rather than an expression of their musicality or hotness.
Ya could be right. I mean it reminds me a bit of Moldy Peaches, especially the second girl’s delivery (who looks like a young Kristen Schall). Either way it’s being treated like a new “Friday”.
Saw this today and yeah it sucks balls. But viewed as camp and parody it’s not so bad. Don’t expect a tour though.
Ergh, it’s so bad when they sing together. It’s not that much better apart but at least they’re not struggling to match each other.

If it’s supposed to be serious, it’s pretty arrogant and tone-deaf to be singing about your “problems” while you’re cruising down Hollywood Blvd. in a limo and wearing expensive dresses and jewelry.
Compared to this, Just Got Paid Let’s Get Laid is Bohemian Rhapsody, and I NEVER thought i’d type that sentence just there.
Something tells me these girls aren’t getting to make videos for their singing talent, though.

Isn’t it obvious? This isn’t supposed to be funny or a parody. They’re trying to be the next Rebecca Black. They know singing poorly on a cheesy video will get them page hits. That’s all that counts.
It’s the same thing with Jessica Simpson or Jaywalking. It’s cringe inducing not because they say stupid things, but because a majority of Americans are so stupid they don’t understand it’s an act.
Close your eyes, and they sound exactly like Pam from The Office.
Oh, it definitely isn’t good comedy, but I do think that’s the goal. I think this is an expression of these two performers’ sense of humor.

Exactly. Even though I could only stand to watch it for about a minute, it brought to mind the whole internet kerfluffle of a week or two back over Samantha Brick, who wrote the article about how horrible other women are to her because she’s so beautiful. Except she’s not.
Is it really a compliment to say that you know how to do something more than just talk?
And I agree they are trying to become the next Rebecca Black. Thing is, if it’s been on the Soup, it’s already working.
Apparently the Brick thing was intentional too. At least, Private Eye reports that she had written quite a lot of things for the Mail, all of which the Mail had declined to print, so she basically agreed to write whatever they wanted, which was the “I’m too sexy” thing. This is how the Mail gets to be a big online news site.
It makes me sad that there are girls out there so desperate for attention that they are actively trying to be the next Rebecca Black.
