The thief or thieves who stole a refrigerated truck loaded with tofu and organic juice from a Southeast Portland Safeway ditched the truck less than three miles from the store – but took every last scrap of tofu and juice, officials say.

NWCN said the thieves were a male and a female.

So, Portland Dopers… If someone in a white van approaches you, saying there was a mistake at the warehouse and they ended up with a surplus of tofu they need to sell at a huge discount, you may want to call the cops.

Your thread title reminds me of an article I once read where a woman’s customized license plate request was turned down as being too suggestive - she was an avid vegetarian and had applied for plates that read “ILUVTOFU”.

Why would anybody hijack tofu?
I dated a Asian woman back in the day. Her main menu was tofu-this, tofu-that. Some of it was quite good, but I don’t relish repeating the experience.
