I bought one of these rings the other day, and watching it change colors is all funky but…I haven’t a clue what the colors mean. The ring never came with descriptions on the colors and moods. So I was wondering if any of the Dopers knew what all the main colors mean. I am normaly blue or purple, BTW.
Or, if you want to be a spoilsport about the whole thing, black means that your body temperature is low, and blue means it’s warm.
Pshhhh…Oh wait! That means I’m ALWAYS hot. 24/7 hotness. Oh yes. No autographs please.
I’m hot.
You mean those rings arn’t genuine?!
And never put it in the freezer unless you want to look like you are wearing a cheap onyx ring. The ring turns black and never changes color again.
Well, yeah. What else would you expect from a flaming banana?
And never let your mother iron your Global HyperColor t-shirt on the hottest setting. I loved that shirt… <sniff> … and now it’s always blue.
Oh yes. I’m FLAMING! Man I’m awesome…
Interesting. I’ve never heard of these. Shirts that change color? The whole shirt or just the decal? Acitvated by body heat or sunlight? Sweat?
I’ve seen some shirts that look like the decal is washed out, almost like one of those kid’s paint-with-water coloring books where the colors ‘magically’ appear when you dab the picture with a wet paintbrush. Is it like that? And where can I find these?

Dudette…
You’ve never heard of Global Hypercolor? They were all the rage in the 80’s in the UK, but I’m pretty sure they were big over here too. They were Australian, originally.
It was a buncha t-shirts that just said “GLOBAL HYPERCOLOUR” and probably something else that came in some weird neon or pastel colors. When you got hot, or it was hot out, they changed to… other weird neon or pastel colors.
Ahhh, Hypercolor T-Shirts! I loved those!
The funny thing was that sometimes you’d see just someone’s armpits change color. So here they’d have this light blue shirt, and WHAM, he had yellow/pink/green pits.
'Course, when hypercolour was still cool I was young enough not to be sweaty (and I lived in England, so there was no sweating to do) so that was never a problem for me.
Does anyone know if they’re still making those shirts? I have a massive attack of clothing nostalgia today- I even went looking for my old “United Colours of Benetton” shirt…
You know, my husband got me one of those rings to help him keep track of my moods (he said). It does work. When I’m in a good mood, the ring turns green. When I’m in a bad mood, it leaves a big red mark right in the middle of his forehead.
I’ve seen those t-shirts so they must still be made. (I’m too young to remember when they were popular in the 80s. I was born in 85)
Er… late 80s, I should have said. I’m only three years older than you, dear.

I know. Wasn’t trying to imply you’re old! lol. It’s just 3 years is a lot at that age. You’re more likely to have memories of the late 80s.
