yes, round 8 is starting. still 3 names up for nomination.
My prediction for this round
Jeffries 212
McCarthy 201
Donalds 20
Present 1
It would be pretty hard for the Democrats to clean up the bed, since the R’s are still shitting in it, and have made it clear that they plan on shitting in the bed for the foreseeable future. Cleaning the bed once will accomplish nothing.
The only solution is for the Republicans THEMSELVES to stop shitting the bed, and to stop the future plans to shit the bed.
Thanks, rocking_chair. As much as I am cheered by the Hamlin news, I do want to hear a Republican member say something along the lines of, “Republicans or socialists, your choice,” as we heard before the last round.
So Trump won’t even get one vote this time? That’s gonna fry his beans.
…while telling you what socialist scum you are.
But he did get one vote in the last round. And that was the best vote. In fact, many people don’t know this, but it was the best vote ever cast in the history of voting …
According to his tweet, he got 218 votes last ballot in the most perfect Speaker vote ever and that 217 of them were stolen.
They can end the shit show any time they want by voting for McCarthy, or Donalds, or whomever they want on the Republican side. They could end it by nominating a Republican. Right now, they just don’t feel like doing it. This will end when the R’s get their shit together, or when the D’s decide that ending it is more important than letting the R’s stew.
Pontificatin’, stumpin’, and speechifyin’, while pretending to nominate the same losers.
I suppose enough Democrats could agree to vote present to allow McCarthy to win in exchange for concessions (more Dems on committees, no impeachment) but I don’t think they trust him to keep his word. Some of the promises he made to get Jim Jordan and MTG on his side would have to be shelved.
What I think would be fitting is for Kevin McCarthy to step aside, and then immediately resign his seat. Make the margins even tighter.
Ah! CNN is back in the House. And Donalds has a vote already.
That’ll end it ‘for now’ but one of the concessions McCarthy made was to allow any individual Rep to force a snap vote on the Speaker. If the Dems ‘end’ this current one, we’ll just be right here again in a couple weeks (or days) when MAGA Q Representative decides to make a point by forcing a vote on kicking McCarthy out.
Who did Boebert just vote for?
That got McCarthy’s hopes up for a minute! Kevin Hearn (sp?)
Who are the two Others?
Now two votes for Other. Hearn from Oklahoma. Who’s he?
I thought that concession was to get their votes. They don’t vote for him, the deal expires.
Does anyone have a transcript of her … speech I guess?
