Adjournment vote next. Dems want NO.
I think he’s saying that a victory with many dramatic moments, a lot of back and forth, and a game winning score as the clock hits 00:00 is a “better” victory than one where the favorite team cruises to an easy victory.
The way I’m reading it is that he starts by talking about the Speaker’s election and the multiple votes; and then as usual, veers off into talking about how great he is.
Oh, I don’t think they’ll split. You’re right that there’s no upside to it.
I’m just positing that they could if they wanted. That the conditions are right for a not-insignificant number of third-party representatives to get elected to Congress in 2024. Maybe the largest bloc of 'em in American history. It’s crazy.
The biggest obstacle they would face is that they’re clearly not united in anything other than opposing McCarthy. They keep nominating different people for their protest vote, they are making different demands, and so on. They seem to have little in common other than that they don’t want Kevin.

I read that thing twice and still don’t understand what point he thinks he’s making.
Trump thinks in terms of visuals and story, not logic. Think, for example, of a comic book where you’ve got people running around in colorful, form-fitting stretchy clothing, that couldn’t possibly have any protective qualities, punching each other despite having super powers and living in an age of projectile weapons. It doesn’t make sense but it’s visually appealing and emotionally meaningful.
If you were watching a movie about a guy who is cheated out of a win but then comes back a second time and clinches it, that’s more dramatic than if he just got it without any fuss, the first time.
There’s no deeper meaning than that. It’s a more interesting tale.
Pretty sure that, in the end, whoever wins will have promised 218 people 872 seats on 109 committees.
The roars of betrayal will be glorious…

and then as usual, veers off into talking about how great he is.
Yes. He’s implying now his comeback will look even greater.
Gavel is sounded.
Reading tally.
Donalds got 12.
Calling for adjourn.
Yeas and nays are going to be tallied.
The Chair just read the vote tallies. Applause for Jeffries, applause for McCarthy, somewhat less applause for Hern and Donalds. When she said, “Donald J. Trump, of the state of Florida, one,” there was laughter louder than any applause Trump did get.

Pretty sure that, in the end, whoever wins will have promised 218 people 872 seats on 109 committees.
The roars of betrayal will be glorious…
Oh my god, you nailed it. McCarthy is pulling a “The Producers!” He’s trying to cash out!
Donald Trump lost three elections today. What did we do to deserve this bountiful munificence, obviously of Divine origin?

Donald Trump lost three elections today.
His career ending, as it should have begun, as a joke.

Donald Trump lost three elections today.
“Rigged elections!!1!!!”

Oh my god, you nailed it. McCarthy is pulling a “The Producers!” He’s trying to cash out!
“Oh, you wanted Ways & Means? Sorry, I put you on Ways & Memes. I must have misheard!”
The adjournment vote so far seems succesfully going strictly party-line, no crossovers but one after it was clear it would pass.
There’s one Republican nay. I bet it’s Matt Gaetz.
Looks like adjournment.
Tomorrow, same batshit-hour, same batshit-channel.
Second time in two days they were able to vote to adjourn. They’re getting good at the voting thing.
