My folks would respond, “Wantings not getting,” to that.
She thinks her rights where being violated?
Wish the cop had said - “Well you have a right to put on a mask and stay, you have a right to leave right now, or you have the right to remain silent, and anything you say or do can be used against you.”
Your parents remind me of friends of mine, who raised their kids, in part, by singing this Rolling Stones tune whenever necessary: “You can’t always get what you waa-ant, no you can’t always get what you war-ant; you can’t always get what you want, but you better try sometime, you just might find, you get what you nee-eed.”
After enough repetitions, this was reduced to, “You know what Mick says.”
Their children are all grown up now, and the fact that they are all decent human beings suggests that “You know what Mick says!” is a pretty good child-rearing strategy.
Which leads one to wonder if these grown children were also raised to have a modicum of sympathy for the devil.
ahem
At the least, I hope they’ve learned their politesse well.
Pretty similar sentiment, I guess, but my folks were the generation (and a half?) before the Stones. Dad was born in '27, Mom in '35. Holidays & birthdays were for things we wanted, although never anything like everything we wanted. If we wanted more than we were given, we had to pay for it ourselves. Chores and an allowance, y’know? I like to think they did a good job with us.
Not so much, but there was a heavy emphasis on avoiding mother’s little helper.
Are we really doing this?.. Fine.
Those kids are living the charmed life.
Did they learn to live with dissatisfaction, or just to complain about it?
They’ve obviously got some sympathy and some taste.
I’ll have what she’s having.
I sang the same thing to my kid. He hated it! He turned out ok, finally.
The one I recall hearing is “People in hell want ice water, too.”
How does it feel to want?
That’s the reply I got from my mom!

My dad was slightly ruder, but the message was pretty much the same. (wish in one hand…)
In my family it was " ‘I want’ doesn’t get"
Given the slate the GQP had in 2020, this woman’s probably angling for (and might legitimately get) a speaking slot at the 2024 Republican National Convention at the rate she’s going.
This guy climbed 20 stories up a crane and refused to come down. He’s finally down now. This city, I swear… SMH
Maybe we should put no-mask woman and crane man in the same cell and see what hellspawn results.
