"Hovering" on a tablet

Is there an action equivalent to hovering your mouse cursor over a link/image/whatever when using a tablet?

I’ve been playing with a Galaxy tab for the last little while, and can’t work out how to do it. Touching the screen translates to a mouse click and moving your finger around is like dragging. Does an iPad have this functionality?

Grim

iPad has “long presses” as part of its multigesture setup (for example, when editing text, you can hold down on it to pull up a little contextual menu).

So yes, the device can do it. Whether the app you’re using has it programmed in is another matter, though.

I’ve tried out the ASUS EEE Transformer, with the “lapdock”, which has a trackpad, and I seem to remember that supported hovering.

Many Honeycomb tablets will support a Bluetooth mouse, which would allow you to move the cursor around the screen, but I’m not sure if it would fully support hovering functionality.

Shit, I just dropped my Acer Iconia on the floor.

No hovering there, either. :frowning:
